Black Maternal Health Week 2026 did not disappoint! After celebrating and uplifting Black mothers and families with the phenomenal leaders of

It’s a powerful reminder of what intentional care and passion can create.

Yes, we know the statistics, but moments like this show the power of action, the strength in coming together, and the impact of doing the work. There’s no excuse to work with Black families and not be educated or involved in change. The resources are here. Listen, cherish, and believe Black mothers. ✊🏾

Today, we honor grandmother, Eva Ozier: a true definition of strength, resilience, and purpose.

A survivor of domestic violence, a mother of six, and a woman who refused to give up on herself, she made the courageous decision to go back to school after years away and built a career in education, pouring into others while still raising her family.

Her journey wasn’t easy, but she kept going. She turned pain into purpose and became a pillar in her community, leaving behind a legacy so powerful that scholarships were created in her name to help future generations succeed.

Because of her, doors are opening for others. Because of her, I know what strength looks like.

You are more than a survivor—you are a legacy. 💐

To close out we want to honor a few of our community’s female elders & ancestors.

From 💐
“Gloria Mae Bailey is my paternal grandmother, and I miss her daily. She was a mother, sister, friend, wife, and non-judgmental listening ear to many people. A queen in the family who loved heels, curling her hair, wearing nice jewelry, and always had a soft scented fragrance on her. We could guarantee nothing but love while in her presence. She was a devout Louisiana Catholic woman that practiced love for all people no matter the circumstances, cooked food with love and lots of flavor, threw the best backyard summer parties, and had a way of being honest while still considering the feelings of others. I was blessed to have not just my grandmother, but this beautiful Black woman that showed me the best parts of family, culture, and humanity.”
