Needle selection in Scalp Micropigmentation is really important.

Years ago, many SMP artists mainly worked with 1RL needles. As the industry evolved, 3RL cartridges became the preferred choice for many artists because they can create a softer, more natural blend throughout the scalp.

At Scalp Ink LV, our go-to cartridges are FYT needles. 🖤

SMP needles are commonly categorized by:
• Configuration (1RL vs 3RL)
• Diameter/size

The sizes we commonly use range from #04– #10 depending on:
✔️ Skin type
✔️ Hair density
✔️ Hairline design
✔️ Coverage area
✔️ Desired softness of the healed result

Smaller diameters can create finer, softer impressions, while larger sizes can help build density and coverage more efficiently.
