In 2025, our Community Health Workers served 97% more patients than the year before. That means nearly twice as many people received help overcoming healthcare barriers related to insurance, transportation, food access, housing and more.

We want to recognize our CHW team for meeting people where they are, advocating for patients, and making care more accessible.

Our mental and behavioral health team is growing! We’re excited to announce that Vicki Penner, LSCSW, joined Heartland Community Health Center this week as a full-time therapist.

Fewer than half of Kansas adults with a mental health condition receive treatment. Every new provider helps close that gap.
