Participants needed for Speech Sound Disorders Study, Los Angeles, CA
SPEECH IMAGING STUDY
Children participants are needed for a research study using an investigational (not FDA approved) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) a safe imaging tool with no ionizing radiation to learn about human speech and language production.Details:• Children ages 5-8 years old• Monolingual native speaker of American English• Have typically developing speech OR have Speech Delay or Childhood Apraxia of Speech• Receive 1 motor speech assessment lasting between 1-3 hours• Receive 1 MRI scan lasting approximately 1 hour at the Dynamic Imaging Science Center located in the Michelson Building on the University Park Campus• Compensation of up to $250 for participation and transportation/parking is provided.Individuals may be excluded for braces or a fixed (non-removable) dental retainer as these affect imaging quality or if speech and/or hearing capabilities are incompatible with the aims of the research study.Participation: Participation in this study is completely voluntary.
