KC Bariatric has been in practice since 2002, providing weight loss surgery care to thousands of patients in the metropolitan Kansas City and surrounding mid-west areas. We provide patient education, full preoperative evaluation of each patient's mental and physical health, coordination of care, assistance with insurance issues, and post-operative support groups in order to help ensure the safety

and success of our patients. Weight loss surgery is not cosmetic surgery, nor does it actually "remove" a patient's excess weight. It is a TOOL that assists in weight loss and weight maintenance for patients who are 100 or more pounds overweight and who have failed weight loss through traditional dietary and behavior modifications. If you or someone you love is obese, you know how difficult life can be. Excess weight impacts your health, your self-esteem, and your relationships. People with obesity are at greater risk for serious health conditions such as high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and diabetes. When diet and exercise aren't working, it may seem like there is no hope. At KC Bariatric, we specialize in providing alternatives for the care and treatment of obesity and its related co-morbidities in the forms of Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and LapBand Gastric Banding Surgeries. If you are considering the decision to undergo weight loss surgery, you'll want to educate yourself on these life-changing procedures. We are here to answer all of your questions and to determine if you are a candidate for surgery through our program.

Weight loss surgery is about so much more than the number on the scale - it’s about getting your life back and being able to do the things you love. 💙

“I was 42 when I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2017, followed by a revision to gastric bypass in 2020. I had struggled with my weight since 6th grade. Today, I have maintained a 115-pound weight loss for 9 years, and my only regret is not doing it sooner.
Losing the weight has allowed me to do so much more in life. I’ve run a 5K, enjoyed kayaking, and hiked in Glacier National Park. My clothes fit better, I feel better, and I would absolutely make the same decision again.
The team at KC Bariatric has been wonderful throughout the entire process. Dr. Hamilton truly listens to his patients and genuinely wants the best for them.”

GLP-1 medications can be incredibly effective, but they’re only one piece of long-term obesity treatment.

These medications work by changing the signals between your brain, gut, and metabolism to help reduce hunger, cravings, and food noise. But when the medication is stopped, those biologic signals can return - which is why long-term support matters.

At KCB, we focus on more than just the number on the scale. Our team helps patients build sustainable habits through medical care, nutrition, movement, and ongoing support designed for long-term success.
Because obesity treatment isn’t about quick fixes - it’s about creating a plan you can maintain for life.
