The Moorings at Lewes is proud to be featured in the University of Delaware’s latest story on "Serving with Care!"

This article shines a spotlight on Lauria Tana-Dawson’s summer internship at The Moorings. As a human services student, she gained hands-on experience working with residents through our Tomorrow’s Leaders Program, supported by the Springpoint Foundation.

For Lauria, the experience was about more than gaining professional skills—it helped her grow personally, too.

“One unexpected thing I’ve learned is how much more confident I’ve become,” she shared, describing how she went from feeling nervous about starting conversations with residents to feeling completely comfortable building relationships with them.

We’re so glad Lauria’s experience—and the meaningful connections she made at The Moorings—was recognized by UD. It’s a wonderful example of the impact of creating opportunities for the next generation of senior living professionals.

Meet Lauria, one of our amazing interns participating in Springpoint's Tomorrow's Leaders program!

A Human Services student at the University of Delaware, Lauria is spending her summer at The Moorings gaining firsthand experience in resident engagement, activity programming, and memory care. Along the way, she's learning how meaningful experiences can enrich the lives of older adults at every level of care.

Made possible by the Springpoint Foundation, the Tomorrow's Leaders program gives students like Lauria the opportunity to learn alongside experienced team members while making a real difference in the lives of our residents.
