One of the greatest gifts we can give someone we love is to remember them.

Sharing a favorite story, laughing about a cherished memory, preparing one of their favorite recipes, or telling a younger generation about the person they were keeps their legacy alive. Speaking their name doesn't reopen old wounds; it honors a life that mattered and reminds us that love never truly fades.

There may be moments when saying their name brings tears, and other moments when it brings a smile. Both are beautiful expressions of love. Grief and gratitude often walk hand in hand, reminding us that a life well lived continues to touch others long after goodbye.

If someone comes to mind today, don't hesitate to share a memory with a family member or friend. Tell their story. Say their name. Every memory shared is another reminder that love has a lasting impact and that the people we cherish are never truly forgotten.

🤍 Their story continues every time it's told.

The people we miss most continue to shape the person we become.

The influence of someone we love does not end when their life does. Their words, values, traditions, and the way they treated others often become part of how we move through the world.

We may notice their patience in the way we comfort someone, their strength when we face a difficult day, or their sense of humor in the moments that unexpectedly make us smile. In these quiet ways, their presence continues.

Grief may leave an empty space in our lives, but love continues to shape us, guide us, and help us become the people we are meant to be.

Today, take a moment to think about one quality you carry because of someone you miss. By sharing that quality with others, you help their legacy live on.

❤️ Their story continues through you.

A Moment of Comfort

Grief reminds us how deeply we were blessed to love.

Grief is one of the hardest journeys we will ever walk, but it also tells a beautiful story. It reminds us that our hearts were fortunate enough to experience a love worth missing.

The depth of our sorrow often reflects the depth of our connection. While grief may change over time, the love that created it remains a lasting part of who we are.

If today feels especially heavy, remember that your grief is not a sign of weakness—it is a reflection of a life and a relationship that mattered.

Take things one moment at a time, and give yourself the same grace you would offer someone you love.

🤍 Be gentle with yourself today.

Whether you’re planning ahead or facing a recent loss, having accurate information can make all the difference. Our goal is to provide honest answers and compassionate guidance so you can make the decisions that are right for your family.

A Moment of Comfort

Carry forward the kindness they showed you.
That is one way love never ends.

The people we love leave behind so much more than memories. They leave behind compassion, wisdom, generosity, patience, and countless little moments that quietly shape who we are today.

One of the most meaningful ways to honor someone we've lost is to continue sharing the goodness they brought into our lives. A simple act of kindness, a listening ear, a helping hand, these become living reminders that love never truly ends.

Today, look for one small opportunity to pass along the kindness they once showed you.

❤️ Love lives on through you.

Today, communities across our nation will come together to celebrate America's independence with family, friends, parades, picnics, and fireworks.

As we enjoy the traditions that make this holiday so special, let us also remember the freedoms we often take for granted and the generations of brave men and women whose courage, sacrifice, and service helped preserve them.

May today be filled with laughter, cherished moments, and gratitude for the blessings of living in the land of the free because of the brave.

We wish you and your family a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July.

Happy Independence Day!

As our community prepares to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow, we invite everyone to take a moment to remember why we celebrate.

Before the fireworks light the sky, before the parades begin, and before families gather for backyard cookouts, let us honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of the men and women who helped secure the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Tomorrow is a celebration of our nation's independence, but it is also a reminder that freedom has never been free.
We would like to wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July.

May we celebrate with gratitude, remember with honor, and never forget those who made our freedom possible. ❤️🤍💙

Today, Funeral Director Andrew Parsell had the privilege of participating in a question-and-answer panel with the amazing children attending Delaware Hospice’s Camp New Hope.

The children asked thoughtful, heartfelt, and sometimes difficult questions about death, funerals, cremation, and what happens when someone we love dies. It was an honor to provide honest answers, help ease fears, and remind each child that their feelings are valid and that they are never alone in their grief.

We are incredibly grateful to Delaware Hospice for the compassionate work they do through Camp New Hope, creating a safe and supportive place where children can heal, connect, and remember their loved ones.

Thank you to Delaware Hospice for allowing Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium to be a small part of such an important mission. It was a privilege to spend time with these remarkable children, and we look forward to continuing to support families in our community—not only during life’s most difficult moments, but throughout the journey of healing.

If you know a child who is grieving the loss of a loved one, we encourage you to learn more about Camp New Hope, a wonderful program offered by Delaware Hospice that provides children with a safe, supportive environment to heal, connect, and remember.
