There isn’t a magic birthday when healthy aging begins. The choices we make and the healthcare we receive throughout our lives can help us stay healthier as we grow older.

That includes things like:
• Routine health screenings
• Monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar
• Managing medications
• Staying physically active
• Caring for your mental health
• Addressing health concerns before they become bigger ones

But preventive healthcare can be difficult to prioritize when you don’t have insurance or can’t afford the cost of care. That’s where Snake River Community Clinic comes in.

We’re here to help the uninsured and underinsured adults in our region access healthcare and important services they might otherwise postpone or go without.

Back-to-school season means we’re welcoming back some very special members of the Snake River Community Clinic team! Meet Abigail, an LCSC work scholar who is returning to SRCC after summer break.

Students like Abigail bring energy, curiosity and an eagerness to learn to the clinic, while gaining something pretty valuable themselves: real-world experience caring for people in their own community. And Abigail has already earned a pretty enthusiastic endorsement from the boss lady, Heidi: “She’s going to be the best nurse.”

We’re so glad to have Abigail back and grateful for the students who choose to spend part of their college experience helping SRCC care for uninsured and underinsured people throughout our region.

As children head back to school, healthy vision plays an important role in their success both inside and outside the classroom. Did you know that vision problems can sometimes be mistaken for learning difficulties?

Last year our volunteer dental team provided 139 in-house dental visits, helping patients receive care they might otherwise have gone without.
