Established in 1891, Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) is a 250 bed tertiary care hospital and trauma center located in Lewiston, Maine. CMMC is home to Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute (CMHVI), the three-year Family Medicine Residency Program, and is one of two bases for LifeFlight of Maine (the State of Maine’s only air medicine program owned by Central Maine Healthcare and Eastern M

We’re not the only ones to think Dr. DeFrance is fabulous. ☺️

Congratulations to Michael DeFrance, DO, director of joint reconstruction at Central Maine Healthcare Orthopedics (CMHO) on his national recognition by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons!

Dr. DeFrance specializes in hip and knee replacements, including Mako robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery, helping patients get back to walking, moving, and living life with less pain and more confidence.

One piece of advice that has stayed with him throughout his career? Focus completely on the task in front of you. It’s a simple idea that shows how focused he is with every patient and every procedure, every day.

After recovering from head and neck cancer, Auburn resident Michelle Emerson created Healing Voices, a nonprofit that provides thoughtfully curated gift bags with practical recovery essentials for head and neck cancer patients.
