Mammogram advice can sound confusing because organizations use different screen schedules. What matter is having a plan based on your own risk, and understanding that a new symptom needs evaluation at any age. 🩷🩷

A little, “I thought of you” can go a long way 💕

💗Sweetest Dat is October, 17th and it’s a sweet reminder to let the people in your life know they matter.

💗Send that thoughtful text. Bring their favorite snack. Plan some time together alone! Tell them exactly what you appreciate about them.

💗Your partner, your best friend, your mother, or someone who’s had a rough week, there are plenty of people who could use a little extra love. Plus, you don’t need a big budget to give it 😉

💕Swipe for simple ways to make someone’s day, then tell us: What’s a small gesture you’ve never forgotten?

Sis, a lump is only one possible warning sign. Changes in skin, ni***es, shape, or swelling matter, too. Most breast changes are not cancer, but guessing at home cannot give you an answer 💕 Know your normal, and get changes checked 💕💕

October is also for Breast Cancer Awareness! It’s important to not only know your status but how to test at home.

If you don’t know, here are your steps to check at home below:

1. Look: Stand in front of a mirror with arms down, then raised. Notice new swelling, dimpling, redness, or ni**le changes.

2. Get comfortable: Lie down with a pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head.

3. Feel: Use the pads of your left hand’s three middle fingers. Make small circles using light, medium, then firm pressure.

4. Cover the whole area: Move in up-and-down rows across your breast—from collarbone to below the breast, and breastbone to armpit.

5. Switch sides: Repeat on your left breast, noticing new lumps, thickening, or changes.

Notice something new? Contact your healthcare provider. Most lumps aren’t cancer, but new changes need checking.

Knowing your breasts helps you notice changes. Self-checks do not replace mammograms.

See you tomorrow!!

Period Poverty is real ❣️

On October 10th, Intimacy Out Loud will be partnership with Black Soil: Our Better Nature for the 2nd year in hosting Period Out Loud: No Shame. Just Periods. for Period Action Day! This event is centered around period education, access, dignity, and breaking the shame surrounding menstruation.

But I need YOUR help in showing up for our community ❣️

Period products are not optional. Pads, tampons, wipes, and personal hygiene products are necessities, yet the cost of managing a period month after month can create a financial burden. Some already have to choose between what bills should be paid, how much groceries they can afford, childcare and the list goes on. Buying period products can become one expense they simply cannot afford!

THAT IS PERIOD POVERTY!

I want us to show up for our girls, young women and women in a tangible way! I am currently accepting donations monetary and actually products. If you decide to donate products please just make sure they are unscented as we don’t know what someone maybe allergic or sensitive to.

I’m looking for the following:
❤️ Pads in various sizes and absorbencies
❤️ Tampons
❤️ Feminine / personal wipes
❤️ Panty Liners
❤️ Personal hygiene products
❤️ Other menstrual care essentials

Every donation matters here, when we come together, those smaller donations become bags filled with products that can make someone’s month a little easier.

Any remaining products will be kept with myself and Black Soil as I have baskets at both locations were products can be picked up at anytime for FREE!

Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have! Let’s make October 10th a day to remember ❣️

Gather round, let’s discuss period poverty! Not everyone can afford all the things they need every month and that’s just the sad truth. Menstrual products should not be a luxury when they are things needed every single month to help a girl or woman get through that time!

These items should be free and if not free much cheaper, if a woman can’t afford products then she’s called nasty or dirty because she’s having to free bleed then that turns into time missed at work, possibly losing their job and so forth!

Make it make sense ❣️❣️❣️

No one should have to go out!

Sis, unfortunately period cramps are not created equally. For some they don’t exist and for others they can be so bad you have to miss school or work.

Whenever it becomes so painful that it affects your daily life please don’t ignore that. If you’re under 18, please talk to your parent so they can contact your daughter and ladies over 18 contact your doctor because this isn’t normal. There are things you can be tested and receive the right treatment to ease these things. It’s not an overnight fix but never stop advocating for yourself!

You’ve got this❣️

Come see me this Saturday at Black Soil KY from 1pm - 3pm for I’ll have free menstrual products on hand and will gladly answer questions!

Sis, the pad is not classified information❣️

Somewhere along the way, we learned to turn a bathroom trip into a secret mission. But caring for your body is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Carry the pad. Pass the tampon. Let’s show the next generation that periods don’t need to come with shame. ❤️

Be honest, have you ever done the sleeve tuck? (I know I have 😂) 👀⬇️

No Shame. Just Periods.
