Today in sessions I pulled out some of my favorite resistive foods…moving from easiest to most challenging - dried cranberries, dried mandarins 🍊, and then dried mango 🥭:)
In their dried form it creates more resistance. More resistance=muscle work from those chewing muscles - the masseter, the temporalis, the medial pterygoid, and the lateral pterigoid.
Optimizing the function of these muscles has an impact on jaw stability, bite force, chew patterns, and jaw growth:).
And…if your little prefers fruits in raw form over other resistive foods (think meats or raw veggies) then this is a great way to food chain your way into stronger muscles, higher endurance, and readiness to feel safe exploring novel high-density options.
