What happens when you bring together great people, welcoming communities, and a little tailgate spirit? A fantastic Explore Retirement Living, PA open house! Thank you to everyone who came out to Luther Acres - A Luthercare Community and St. John's Herr Estate - A Luthercare Community to be part of the fun.

From touring homes and meeting our teams to enjoying tailgate-inspired food and festivities, it was a great opportunity to connect with visitors and share what makes our communities special.

A big thank-you to our resident volunteers, team members, and event partners who helped make it all happen! We’re grateful to Beyond the Fork in the Road, Your Neighborhood Connection LLC, A Life Transition of Lancaster, Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital, Martin CFS, and UPMC for being part of the day. As we kick off Spiritual Care Week, we’re exploring the many ways faith, connection and purpose shape our lives.

For Luther Acres - A Luthercare Community Chaplain Mark Jeske, purpose is about more than a professional calling. It’s found in the relationships we build, the experiences we share and the everyday moments that bring meaning to life.

With 23 years in ministry, Mark’s journey has taken him from serving congregations in Pennsylvania to hospital chaplaincy in Kansas City and, since September 2025, to Luther Acres.

One lesson that has stayed with him since childhood came from his grandfather, a missionary in India. When Mark asked how many people he had converted, his grandfather replied, “I hope not one!” He explained that it was the Holy Spirit who changed people, not him. That conversation helped shape Mark’s understanding of faith and service, a lesson he carries into his work today.

Mark believes purpose extends beyond our jobs and professional callings. It can be found in the people we love, the things that bring us joy and the connections we make with others.

For Mark, that means listening to people’s stories, spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, making music, learning languages and sharing good food with others.

His advice for anyone searching for purpose? Make time for prayer, spend time with Scripture or devotional readings, journal and find a mentor who can offer guidance along the way.

This Spiritual Care Week, we’re grateful for Mark and the compassion, curiosity and perspective he brings to the Luther Acres community.

Celebrating the people who make a difference at Luthercare! 💙

Our annual Journey Society dinner is a special occasion dedicated to recognizing team members for their significant milestones of service and thanking them for the impact they make across our communities. This year, team members from Luther Acres - A Luthercare Community and St. John's Herr Estate - A Luthercare Community gathered for an evening of recognition alongside family members who joined them for the celebration.

Representing a variety of departments, these team members contribute to so much of what makes daily life at Luthercare meaningful. From caring for those who call our communities home to preparing meals, maintaining our spaces and supporting the many details that keep everything running, their dedication makes a difference every day.

To all of our Journey Society honorees, congratulations on your service milestones! Thank you for the care, commitment and heart you bring to Luthercare. We’re grateful for all you do and proud to celebrate the important role you play in our communities. 💙

Lititz got a little sweeter today! 🍫

Our Luther Acres - A Luthercare Community residents joined the community for the Lititz Chocolate Walk, serving up triple chocolate browned butter cookies made by our talented Luther Acres dining team.

Rich chocolate, nutty browned butter and plenty of chocolatey goodness made these cookies a treat worth stopping for! We’re proud of the creativity and skill our dining team brings to the table, finding delicious ways to bring people together and make community events even more special.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share in the sweetness with us! 💙

Active Aging Week is all about finding ways to stay active, curious and connected, and our communities found plenty of ways to do just that!

At Luther Acres - A Luthercare Community, residents took a historic walking tour of downtown Lititz with the Lititz Historical Foundation, exploring more than 270 years of local history, from Lititz’s Moravian beginnings to the people, architecture and stories behind its historic Main Street.

Over at St. John's Herr Estate - A Luthercare Community, residents welcomed the start of autumn with a hike to Mill Creek Falls, led by naturalists from the Lancaster Conservancy. Along the way, they learned about local flora and fauna, the history of York County and the natural landscape surrounding the falls.

Both outings offered more than a chance to get moving. They brought people together, sparked conversation and learning, and encouraged residents to stay engaged with our communities and natural spaces around them. 💙

Some of the best memories are made when there’s a little bit of everything. 🍁

At The Wittel Farm today, Luthercare residents and Luthercare for Kids children spent the morning experiencing fall together during Harvesting Memories Across Generations. There were wagon rides, chickens to feed, a bunny to pet, garlic to plant and fall flowers to investigate. 🌱🐓🐇

But the real takeaway was something you can’t put in a wheelbarrow: time spent together across generations. 💙
