☀️ Is your workplace ready for heat season?
Heat illness prevention starts before temperatures spike. Employers should review and update their heat injury prevention program whenever tasks, staffing, PPE, schedules, equipment, or work locations change.
✅ 2026 Employer Heat Safety Checklist:
• Develop or update a written heat injury and illness prevention plan
• Identify indoor and outdoor jobs with heat exposure
• Assign a heat safety coordinator or responsible supervisor
• Monitor heat index, WBGT, workload, humidity, radiant heat, and PPE burden
• Create heat triggers for action
• Provide cool water close to the work area
• Provide shaded, cooled, or air-conditioned recovery areas
• Schedule hot or heavy work during cooler parts of the day
• Reduce workload, rotate jobs, and add relief workers during high heat
• Implement acclimatization plans for new and returning workers
• Train workers and supervisors before heat exposure begins
• Use buddy systems or regular check-ins
• Establish emergency response procedures
• Document training, monitoring, incidents, corrective actions, and program reviews
