Before Book 2, there was Tala. And his story is FREE on Kindle through October 16!

Have you ever watched your child want to try something new, only to stop because they felt nervous?

That little feeling in their tummy? We call it the flutters.

In Hello Flutters! Tala and Toog Tower, children meet Tala, a flying squirrel who discovers that feeling afraid doesn't mean he can't be brave.

And sometimes, giving a feeling a name is the beginning of learning how to move through it.

✨ Book 1: FREE on Kindle, October 12–16!

🌿 And the adventure continues…

Book 2: Hello Flutters! Nevaeh Meets G.R.A.C.E. is OUT NOW as an ebook!

Remember Nevaeh, the one who made Tala's flutters worse?

Now it's her turn.

Through five forest guides, Nevaeh begins to discover what was hiding beneath her own behavior and learns a new way forward through G.R.A.C.E.:

🌱 Ground. Reflect. Align. Create. Embody.

Two stories. Two different experiences of fear. And an opportunity to help children understand not only their own feelings, but the feelings behind someone else's behavior.

Read Book 1 tonight. Explore Book 2 together. Then ask your child, "When do you feel the flutters?"

You might be surprised by what you both discover.

📚 Book 1 is FREE through October 16.
📖 Book 2 ebook is available NOW.
✨ Hardcover coming soon!

Every classroom has a Nevaeh.

The child who seems like the problem. The one who pushes, interrupts, and makes the hard moments harder.

In Book 1, that was Nevaeh. In Book 2, she finally gets to tell her story.

Hello Flutters! Nevaeh Meets G.R.A.C.E. is now available as an ebook on Amazon. Nevaeh meets five forest guides who help her understand the fear underneath it all, and what to do when the big feelings come. The hardcover is on its way, and I will share the moment it arrives.

And if you haven't met Tala yet, this is the week.

Hello Flutters! Tala and Toog Tower is free on Kindle, October 12 to 16. It gives children a word for fear: flutters. Once a child can name the feeling, they can begin to move through it.

Download Book 1 free, grab the Book 2 ebook, and read them together.

If you know a parent, teacher, or therapist who would love these, please share this with them. What looks like bad behavior is often fear without a voice.

"Why would a psychotherapist write children's books?"

I get asked this a lot. My clients taught me why.

I work with adults who are really good at what they do. They lead teams, raise families, and show up for everyone. Then something small happens, like a tense email or a certain tone of voice, and suddenly they're snapping at someone they love, going numb, or finding a reason to leave the room.

When we slow down and look at where that comes from, we usually land somewhere in childhood. A kid who felt something huge in their chest or stomach and didn't have a single word for it. Nobody explained it, so they found their own way to get through it. Those ways tend to stick around for decades.

The research here gives me a lot of hope. Naming a feeling helps calm the part of the brain that sounds the alarm. Kids who learn social emotional skills in school also tend to do better with their emotions, their behavior, and even their grades.

So I started writing for the kids. Hello Flutters! gives children a word for that fluttery feeling, and it gives the adults in their lives an easy way to talk about it together.

When a child understands fear early, they get a head start on living fully.

I'm curious. What's one feeling you wish someone had helped you name when you were little?

So excited to celebrate my friend Laura Strachan today! Her children’s book, Tommy’s Red-Tailed Hawk, is officially out. ❤️🦅📚

Hawks are one of my favorite birds, so I especially love that this story centers around one.

Based on a true story from Laura’s family, the book shares the story of her father at age eight and the red-tailed hawk he cared for during World War II.

I love when a book gives children a beautiful story while opening the door to bigger conversations about what it means to care for something, to face uncertainty, and to discover courage along the way.

Congratulations, Laura, on bringing such a personal piece of your family’s history into the world. What a beautiful way to honor your father and preserve his story for another generation. ❤️

If you have a child, grandchild, classroom, or family in your life who loves animals and meaningful stories, I hope you’ll check out Tommy’s Red-Tailed Hawk and help me celebrate Laura on her launch day!

Happy Book Birthday, Laura! 🦅📚❤️
