During Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, HCA HealthONE Sky Ridge joins our broader HCA Healthcare network in recognizing the first responders and EMS professionals – both in our communities and across our organization – who answer the call when patients need care most. Each year, approximately 10 million patients receive care in HCA Healthcare emergency rooms and many of those patients rely on EMS professionals for safe, timely transport to our ERs as well as critical care along the way.

We’re proud to honor these dedicated first responders and EMS teams. Thank you for showing up with skill, courage and compassion every hour of every day. We’re grateful for the life-saving care you provide and the steady support you bring to the patients and communities you serve.

As we conclude Nurses Week, it is only fitting that we share this wonderful story from Denver7 that features our Daisy Leader of the Year Lindsay Mallon, along with our Chief Nursing Officer Kristen Fiddes. The DAISY Award is an international program that honors extraordinary, compassionate nursing care and was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who lost his battle with an autoimmune disease. We are proud of you Lindsay and all of our nurses who provide exemplary care every day to our patients and their families.

Lindsay Mallon, nursing director of perioperative services at HCA HealthONE Sky Ridge, was recently recognized with the DAISY Award for leader of the Year.

and are each meaningful in their own way—but every once in a while, life brings them together in a moment you’ll never forget.

On a flight home from their babymoon, what began as a routine trip quickly turned into something extraordinary. At 30,000 feet, an unexpected delivery unfolded - and in the middle of it all, a nurse stepped forward with calm, courage, and compassion to help welcome a new life into the world.

And here’s what makes it even more special… this moment hits close to home. The family is from Castle Rock, and the nurse who answered the call is one of our own - a Mom/Baby nurse at HCA HealthONE Sky Ridge.

It’s hard to put into words what nurses mean in moments like these. They show up. They lead with heart. And they make the impossible feel possible—no matter where they are.
