👀We’re looking for someone special.

In October, InPlace Home Care will begin supporting a lovely 90-year-old woman in Casselberry who wants to remain as independent as possible.

We aren’t simply looking to fill a schedule. We’re hoping to find the right person. Someone who enjoys conversation, sharing a little laughter and encouraging independence while being there when a little help is needed.

We’re looking for approximately 3 - 4 hours per day, ideally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to start. Visits will include companionship, light housekeeping, laundry and simple meal preparation. No personal care is needed at this time.

Our hope is that this becomes the beginning of a relationship with someone she genuinely looks forward to seeing, and who may be able to add time as her needs change.

As Rosh Hashanah continues, we send our warmest wishes to all who are celebrating.

There’s something beautiful about a new year that reminds us that some of the things most worth carrying forward aren’t new at all.

For a lot of us, these are some of the busiest months of the year.

Travel. Company. Holidays. School schedules. Events. Weekends that seem to fill up before they even arrive.

And caregivers get busier too.

If you're regularly helping a parent or someone you love, this is a good time to look ahead at your own calendar.

Your loved one may attend an adult day program Monday through Friday, but you already know there are weekends you'll need help.

Your parent may live independently, but you're the person who handles the little things each week, and you'll be traveling.

Nothing has changed with their care needs.

Your schedule changed.

And that's something families don't always think about when they think about home care.

Home care doesn't have to begin with a crisis. It doesn't have to mean someone suddenly needs significant care. And it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing decision.

Sometimes it's simply a few extra hours of support, intentionally planned around a busy season of life.

So as we head into the “Ber” months, take a look at the calendar.

What could six hours give back to you?

When you’re caring for someone you love, even a few hours when someone else carries the responsibility can make a difference.

Research has linked respite with reduced caregiver stress and burden, and federal caregiver-support data found that 74% of caregivers receiving supportive services said those services helped them continue providing care longer than they otherwise could have.

And caregiving isn’t only what other people can see. It’s the appointments, phone calls, medications, groceries, planning, checking in and constantly keeping track of what needs to happen next. That invisible responsibility counts, too.

Maybe six hours means dinner with your spouse, time with your grandbaby, the gym, lunch with a friend, a nap, or simply a little time that belongs to you.

Respite isn’t about doing less for someone you love. It’s about making what you’re already doing more sustainable.

Sometimes support doesn’t have to start with a major decision. Sometimes it can start with six hours.

Smart devices can offer reminders, added safety and convenience, and make everyday life at home a little easier.

But there are some things technology simply can't do.

It can't walk out the door with Mom. It can't get caught in the middle of a good story, notice she's having an off day or turn an ordinary afternoon into something she actually looks forward to.
