What if your child’s skin is trying to tell you something about their gut? 👀

You see the eczema.
The rash.
The dry, irritated skin.

So naturally, you reach for a cream.

But:
Your child’s gut has a barrier — almost like a security system. ‼️

Its job is to let nutrients through while keeping unwanted substances from crossing into the body.☀️

But when that intestinal barrier becomes more permeable than it should be — often called “leaky gut” — larger particles can cross that barrier more easily.

And here’s where it gets interesting:
immune system is sitting right there, monitoring what comes through.

If it encounters substances it considers a threat, it can trigger an immune response.

And because the gut and immune system are deeply connected to the skin, the effects don’t necessarily stay in the gut.

This is especially worth paying attention to in children whose diets are heavy in ultra-processed foods and low in fiber and diverse plant foods. 🍪
