Myth: Running ruins your knees. Fact: Recreational running does not cause knee arthritis β and may actually protect your joints.
Large studies show recreational runners have similar or lower rates of knee osteoarthritis than non-runners. Movement helps nourish cartilage. Only very high-mileage, elite-level running shifts that risk.
So for most people, running is kind to the knees. Build up gradually and listen to your body.
