April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a time to honor survivors, elevate truth, and strengthen our collective commitment to prevention, healing, and justice. This year marks a powerful milestone: “25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward.” For 25 years, SAAM has united survivors, advocates, and communities to end sexual violence. We honor those who paved the way and recommit to building a safer, more just future for all.

Sexual violence remains widespread and deeply impactful:

In the U.S., sexual violence occurs every 68 seconds, with over 400,000 victims age 12+ each year
By age 18, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys experience sexual violence
Nearly half of women and 1 in 6 men experience contact sexual violence in their lifetime
Transgender individuals face especially high rates, with nearly 47% reporting sexual assault
Sexual violence disproportionately impacts Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and disabled communities
Sexual violence includes a range of harm including: sexual assault, harassment, exploitation, trafficking, nonconsensual image sharing, and any unwanted sexual contact or behavior without consent. Most survivors know the person who harmed them, underscoring the importance of trust, accountability, and community-centered prevention.

If you or someone you know needs support, contact the RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800-656-HOPE or visit RAINN online for confidential help.

Join HealthHIV on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 1:00pm Eastern for a webinar that will share in-depth findings from the recently-fielded HealthHIV Fifth Annual State of Aging with HIV™ National Survey. HealthHIV conducted the survey to identify the state of care coordination and the complex health challenges associated with aging with HIV.

Survey participants included people aging with HIV across the lifespan. This includes individuals aged 50 and older and those living with HIV for 15 years or longer, including long-term survivors, older adults aged 65 and above, and individuals living with HIV since birth. The survey also included providers and the workforce supporting their care across clinical and community settings.

The findings reflect participants' perspectives on topics such as:

Care coordination and the complex health challenges associated with aging with HIV;

Aging, independence, and planning — how health and support systems respond to those needs;

Concerns about long-term care services, housing stability, and daily living needs;
Associations between mental health, discrimination, stress, and quality of life and health outcomes; and

Navigating changes in Medicare and the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.

The webinar will review key takeaways from the survey, outline what's next for research and care delivery based on these findings, and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions to expert faculty and survey researchers following the presentation.
