Peptides like BPC-157, GHK-Cu, NAD⁺, Selank, Semax, and Tesamorelin are making the rounds for “faster healing,” “anti-aging,” and “better focus”…

But here’s what’s important to know👇

Most of these are still experimental
Human data is limited or weak
Dosing is not standardized
Long-term safety is unknown

Yes—some are promising.
No—they’re not magic.

The risk? Trading proven fundamentals (sleep, nutrition, exercise) for an unknown.

Bottom line: Just because it’s trending in wellness doesn’t mean it’s ready for your body.

⚠️ Be informed. Be cautious.

Share this with someone considering peptides.

VC thanks for sharing your experience.

“Starvation mode” is a term that can be oversimplified online.

The reality is more nuanced.

When the body is consistently under-fueled, it adapts by conserving energy. This can include changes in metabolism, hormone regulation, and hunger signaling.

For some individuals, eating only one meal a day may lead to:

🪫 low energy
😓 difficulty concentrating
🍴 increased hunger later in the day
🥦 challenges meeting nutritional needs

That said, structured fasting approaches can work for some people depending on their goals, lifestyle, and overall health.

The key is understanding that nutrition is not one-size-fits-all ‼️

Consistency and adequacy matter more than extremes.

Allergies aren’t real; we never had them.‼️

Perhaps something you may have heard from family that grew up in a different climate or environment.

From a medical perspective, allergies occur when the immune system reacts to something that is otherwise harmless, like pollen, dust, or certain foods.

The more interesting question is:

🧐 Why do some people develop allergies, while others don’t?

Several factors play a role:

👉 Environment: Where you grow up matters. Exposure to different climates, pollutants, and allergens can shape immune responses.
👉 Early-life exposure: The “hygiene hypothesis” suggests that limited exposure to microbes early in life may increase allergy risk.
👉 Genetics: Family history can influence susceptibility, but it’s not deterministic.

This helps explain a common experience:
Parents who grew up in one environment (for example, another country) may have no allergies while their children, raised in a different setting, develop them.

Climate also plays a role ☀️❄️

Different regions have different pollen patterns, air quality levels, and environmental exposures... all of which can influence how the immune system reacts over time.

The takeaway?
Allergies ARE real, but they’re not random.

They’re the result of how your immune system adapts to your environment over time.

Humans are wired for belonging 🤝

In the brain, social exclusion activates many of the same pathways as physical pain, which is why the fear of being “left out” feels so real, especially for children.

And for parents, that creates pressure.

We may struggle with our child feeling like the “odd one out”, and it may even trigger our own childhood memories of these uncomfortable moments. To be the only one without a phone, without social media, or simply the only one excluded from the new trend.

But when decisions are driven by fear of exclusion, we may unintentionally reinforce anxiety, comparison, and dependence on external validation.

The opportunity is to shift the environment, not just the individual.

Connecting with other parents and creating shared boundaries can help children feel included while still supporting healthier habits.

My wife and I recognized our son wanted to socialize and stay connected, so we opted for .kids to step clear of the health risks of early tech use, but still provide him the experience of connectedness ☎️

We’re waiting to introduce it because the charm of connecting on the playground is perfect for his age, but when we’re ready - we have a solution that works for us.

We’re learning parenting is about understanding (and coming to terms with) the health risks that technology presents, and finding alternatives to preserve our children’s childhood.

What pivots are you making?

“You don’t have to be a psychiatrist to see it.”

We’re trained to spot illness in others…
but not always in ourselves.

📊 Female physicians die by su***de at higher rates than women in other fields.
📊 And in medicine, the gender gap disappears—risk is high for both.

As a physician—and a father—that hits hard.

Because behind the white coat are people still showing up… while silently struggling.

Sometimes the most important thing you can say is:
“I’m worried about you.”

In recognition of National Infant Immunization Week, it’s important to revisit what we know about protecting children early in life 👇

Infant vaccines are designed to prevent diseases that can be serious, and in some cases life-threatening, particularly in children with developing immune systems.

💉 Vaccines like DTaP, MMR, polio, Hib, and pneumococcal have significantly reduced the burden of these illnesses over time.

If you’re navigating questions or uncertainty, it’s important to rely on trusted, evidence-based sources.

Resources like the provide guidance based on large-scale safety and outcome data.

As both a physician and a parent, the goal is simple 👉 protect early and effectively.

From a mental health perspective, children are growing up in a very different environment than previous generations.

Digital exposure isn’t just about screen time, it’s about how identity, privacy, and social experiences are shaped online 📱

Research shows that online environments can influence:
👉 self-esteem
👉 anxiety
👉 emotional development

And today, that includes newer concerns like cyberbullying and the misuse of images, including AI-generated content.

There is increasing recognition that sustained online harm can have real psychological effects, particularly in developing brains.

This is why some parents are becoming more intentional about what they share online, my wife and myself included.

Not as a judgment, but as a boundary set for our children. Because once something is shared digitally, control over it changes.

And children don’t get to choose their digital footprint early on.

🚨 This is NOT a “challenge”… this is cutting off oxygen to your brain.

As a father and physician, I’m telling you—there is no safe version of the “Blackout Challenge.” Trends like this spread fast on platforms like TikTok, but the consequences can be permanent… or fatal.

🧠 Your brain needs oxygen every second
⚠️ Loss of consciousness can happen in seconds
❌ Seizures, brain injury, even death—on the FIRST try

Parents—don’t assume your child wouldn’t try this.
Kids/teens—this isn’t a game. It’s your life.

📣 Talk about it. Share this. You could save someone.

From a developmental perspective, play is one of the most important drivers of early brain development 🧠

Research shows that interactive play with caregivers helps strengthen neural connections related to language, emotional regulation, and problem-solving.

This type of interaction, sometimes referred to as “serve and return,” is a key component of healthy brain development.

Activities like 👉 reading, drawing, building, and imaginative play all stimulate different areas of the brain and support long-term cognitive and social growth.

It doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming.

What matters most is consistent, engaged interaction.

Small moments of connection can have a lasting impact!

Medical guidance can feel confusing, especially when collaboration between organizations changes or recommendations evolve.

But it’s important to remember 👉 Medicine is not static.
It’s constantly updated as new evidence emerges.

When clarity feels limited, the most helpful approach is to return to the fundamentals:

🩺 seek information from trusted medical organizations
📚 focus on evidence, not headlines
💬 have conversations with your healthcare provider

Because the goal isn’t to have one universal answer.
It’s to make the right decision for your individual health.

04/17/2026

In medicine, skepticism should raise the bar for evidence, not lower it.

Read the data.
