i keep thinking about how growth isn’t actually about the future at all, like we treat it as this forward moving thing but really it’s about going back, it’s about finding the stories you’re still subconsciously carrying and asking why you learned to abandon yourself in the first place
and here’s the thing i’ve realized about codependency specifically, you cannot trust that good things will happen for you while you’re still operating from the same nervous system that created the problem, you’ll sabotage it or shrink it or not even let yourself see it when it shows up because the version of you that’s still running the old story doesn’t know how to receive it
so healing isn’t hustling toward some new future self, it’s going back into the inner child who learned that love was scarce and giving her what she actually needed
i made an inner child meditation for exactly this because i needed something that didn’t just tell me to “heal my inner child” but actually walked me there, and safe enough to feel the stuff you’ve been avoiding
and the goal isn’t to relive the pain it’s to finally let that part of you be discovered, to feel what it’s like to love again
on the other side of it you start trusting timing again, you stop white knuckling outcomes because you’re not scared they’ll disappear the second you look away, that’s what regulation actually feels like, it’s quiet, it’s not forcing anything, it’s just finally being able to receive and that comes with breaking down the systems that prevent your from reviving all the things you ask the universe to provide you🤍
