Today is International Non-Binary People’s Day. Observed each year on July 14, this day celebrates and raises awareness of people whose gender identity exists beyond the traditional male-female binary. For some, being non-binary means identifying as both a man and a woman, somewhere in between, experiencing gender as fluid, or identifying outside of those categories altogether. The date was established in 2012 and falls midway between International Women’s Day (March 8) and International Men’s Day (November 19). If you or someone you know is seeking resources and services, we have advocates standing by that are affirming to all identities please call our hotline and talk to one of our advocates today! tel:8188860453 / [tel:6612530258](tel:6612530258)

✨ Big news for California survivors and victim service providers!

We’re grateful to see Governor Newsom and the California Legislature approve $50 million in one-time funding to help sustain critical crime victim services in California through the 2026–2027 state budget.

While this funding is an important step toward ensuring survivors continue to have access to life-saving services, it is a temporary solution. We remain committed to advocating for sustainable, long-term funding so every survivor can receive the support they deserve today and into the future. ✨

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated July as Purposeful Parenting Month.
Purposeful Parenting is an approach that prioritizes emotional connection, clear boundaries, and the sharing of values. Instead of reacting impulsively, it seeks to guide children by example, teaching with respect and understanding the emotions behind behaviors. This approach is built on key pillars: Active presence—engaging emotionally and mentally; Loving boundaries—setting clear rules without resorting to authoritarianism; Self-esteem and validation—fostering a child’s confidence by acknowledging their good actions; and Emotional intelligence—helping them identify and manage their feelings.
Through our work, StrengthUnited supports families, prevents sexual and domestic violence, and provides healing and support to abuse survivors. Our goal is to transform a traumatic event in the life of an individual or family into a source of strength.

Juneteenth, celebrated every June 19, commemorates one of the most important events in American history: the effective liberation of slaves in Texas. Although this declaration seemed to mark the definitive end of slavery, in reality it came with a considerable delay. President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation had gone into effect on January 1, 1863, more than two years earlier.
Despite great obstacles, freed African Americans found Juneteenth a symbol of hope and unity. With later support from the Freedmen’s Bureau, they began celebrating the date as a commemoration of emancipation. Over time, the holiday became known as Juneteenth, a combination of the English words “June” and “nineteenth.”
Through our work, StrengthUnited supports families, prevents sexual and domestic violence, and provides healing and support to those who have survived abuse. Our goal is to transform a traumatic event in the life of a person or a family into a point of strength.
