Special Patient Alert! I’ve known this incredible young lady over 4 years now. This week, on her 16th birthday, she had her 5th surgery with me (12th overall). Sometimes I really get to watch my kids (I mean patients) grow up right before my eyes and see them develop such personality and mature into young adults and it’s one of the most amazing parts of my career.

Being a surgeon is absolutely the most rewarding but also humbling profession. The highs are high and the lows can be low. Still no place I’d rather be.

today one of my incredibly talented, athletic, motivated and genuinely kind patients who I’ve (unfortunately) operated on multiple times over the past 5 years scheduled a follow up appointment not because anything hurt or needed to be checked out but rather she just wanted to say thank you and goodbye as she graduates high school next week and matriculates to college on the east coast (with a full ride). it is relationships like this that make it all worth it!!! Thank you Jordan! And good luck in college!

It’s notes like these… the most rewarding part of being an orthopedic surgeon is helping young patients get back to doing what they love and achieving their goals! As a former NCAA athlete myself, this especially hits home when that goal is back on the field (side note, lacrosse >> baseball).
