Back injections can be one part of an interventional approach to persistent pain.

Just as important is making sure patients understand their care, have their questions answered, and know what to expect throughout the process. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Basivertebral nerve ablation provided lasting relief for patients with chronic vertebrogenic low back pain.

This study followed patients who underwent basivertebral nerve ablation (BVNA), a minimally invasive treatment that targets the basivertebral nerve inside the vertebral body—a nerve involved in vertebrogenic pain arising from damaged vertebral endplates.

Researchers followed 100 treated patients for an average of 6.4 years and found that improvements in pain and disability were maintained over time.

At follow-up:

• 66% reported more than 50% pain relief
• 47% reported more than 75% pain relief
• 34% reported complete pain resolution
• 75% met the study’s combined criteria for meaningful improvement in pain and function

The findings support basivertebral nerve ablation as a durable treatment option for appropriately selected patients with chronic vertebrogenic low back pain.

📌 Educational only. Speak with a qualified physician to determine whether basivertebral nerve ablation is appropriate for the source of your low back pain.

Football collisions can place significant stress on the neck and shoulders, especially during tackles, blocks, and hard falls.

Possible football-related injuries include:
✔️ Neck muscle or ligament strains
✔️ Shoulder sprains or strains
✔️ Rotator cuff or AC joint injuries
✔️ Stingers or burners from temporary nerve irritation
✔️ Upper-back soreness or stiffness

Some symptoms are immediate, while others become more noticeable after the game as soreness, stiffness, weakness, or radiating pain develops.

Persistent pain, numbness, weakness, or symptoms traveling into the arm should be medically evaluated.

💉 When pain continues after the initial injury, interventional pain management may offer targeted, non-surgical treatment options depending on the source.

Sometimes, but not always. For some conditions, treatment can substantially reduce pain, while chronic pain may be better managed by improving symptoms, movement, sleep, function, and quality of life.

The outcome depends on the source of pain, how long it has been present, and how the individual responds to treatment.

Leg pain doesn’t always start in the leg.

When a lumbar nerve root becomes irritated, pain can travel from the lower back into the buttock, thigh, calf, or foot. This is known as lumbar radicular pain and may be accompanied by tingling, numbness, or weakness.

A lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) delivers medication near the affected nerve root through the opening where it exits the spine. The goal is to reduce inflammation and help relieve radiating pain.

Performed with imaging guidance, the injection is one treatment option when symptoms and clinical findings support a lumbar nerve source. Results vary depending on the underlying condition.
