Happy National Nurse’s Week 💙 in celebration of nurses around the world, I’ve been reflecting on my time through both nursing school & now being in practice.

My journey to becoming an RN was anything but a linear line. There were many times I wanted to stop, & in those moments I had to reflect on WHY I started in the first place.

I couldn’t imagine doing anything other than working with my patients on a daily basis. I’m honored to be a witness to countless people’s most vulnerable moments of their lives, & hear their stories.

I’ve grown immensely in my role, now practicing as a Charge Nurse on the highest acuity unit in my hospital, the Intensive Treatment Unit.

My passion for treating a person holistically has only grown through my time with patients. It’s fitting that this month we ALSO celebrate “Mental Health Awareness Month.” I encourage both medical professionals & non-medical professionals, to work hard to not let someone’s diagnosis define them. A diagnosis is just one piece of someone’s life, not who they are as a whole person.

We have lots of work still to do with diminishing the stigma that tends to surround mental health related topics, but one of the first & crucial steps is openly discussing these topics. #Δύναμη

26 ♥️ Grateful for another year around the sun! This birthday, I’ve been thinking a lot about time. And how we choose to utilize it. Some days are ordinary, routine, & we go through the motions without thinking twice about it.

But what if one of those days was your last? What would you do differently? Nothing is guaranteed in this life, & I’ve been working hard to try & be mindful as much as possible with every second of the day. How can you be more mindful in your day to day life? ♥️ #Δύναμη #26
