There’s something delicious about feminine power that doesn’t need to prove itself. Intuition. Friendship. Pleasure. Trusting what you know.

Or maybe I just want a coven of girlfriends and a gorgeous witchy house.

I just finished speaking to a room full of university students about leadership. Shout out to Brooke 💕 for the invitation!

And I keep thinking about how badly I wish someone had told 20-year-old me this:

You do not need to know exactly who you’re becoming before you start making decisions that move you toward her.

My career has taken me across countries, into rooms I never imagined I’d be in, through leadership roles I once thought were the destination - and eventually into building something entirely my own.

Very little of it happened because I had some brilliant master plan.

A lot of it happened because I was willing to make the next decision before I had all the answers.

That’s what I wanted these students to leave with today.

Leadership isn’t knowing.

It’s learning to trust yourself enough to move while you’re still figuring it out.

And apparently, I needed the reminder too. ❤️

You do not need everyone to agree with your decision for it to be the right one.

And whew, some of us need to hear that.

I’m realizing that over-explaining can be people-pleasing in a very convincing disguise.

We make the decision… then immediately start building the case for why everyone else should understand it.

But confidence isn’t getting everyone to approve of your choices.

Sometimes: I’ve decided…is enough.

Everybody loves talking about “becoming her.”

Until becoming her requires you to make choices that make absolutely no sense to the version of you who built your current life.

You may disappoint people.

Change your mind.

Walk away from something you once desperately wanted.

Choose rest over proving yourself.

Say no to an opportunity that looks impressive on paper.

Outgrow relationships, goals, identities, and even versions of success you worked really hard to create.

That part isn’t nearly as Instagrammable.

But I’m starting to believe this:

You cannot keep saying you want a different life while making every decision from the identity you’re trying to outgrow.

Becoming her will cost you something.

And sometimes, the price is simply your willingness to stop choosing what no longer fits.

Others refuse to leave you alone until you build them.

DECIDE has been the latter.

After my latest planning call with Ginger Taylor, I could feel the shift: the vision is becoming an experience, the right people are entering the conversation, and the momentum is real.

In September 2027, we’re bringing leaders together in Boston to confront the consequential decisions shaping their careers, organizations, and lives.

No performative panels. No recycled leadership advice. No networking for networking’s sake.

DECIDE is being designed to help leaders trust their judgment, exercise their authority, and move forward with clarity and conviction.

And now, the date is officially set. That deserves a little celebration. 🥂

Hot take: the problem isn’t that women have become “too empowered.” It’s that we’re getting harder to control.

Harder to convince that shrinking, settling, staying agreeable, and making ourselves palatable is the price of being liked.

And if that makes some people uncomfortable?

There are some books you’re excited to read.

And then there are books you’re deeply proud to be part of.

I’m honored to have my story featured in Lina AbiRafeh Lina AbiRafeh’s new book, Feminist Firestarter: Activism for an Unraveling World, out September 8. 🔥

This one feels particularly timely.

Women’s rights are being rolled back around the world. Progress we were told was inevitable is proving anything but.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from spending my career in gender equality and women’s leadership, it’s this:

Progress does not sustain itself.

It requires people willing to keep pushing.
To challenge what we’ve normalized.
To say the inconvenient thing.
To refuse to confuse exhaustion with defeat.

And, perhaps most importantly, to keep imagining a different future even when the present gives us plenty of reasons not to.

That’s what I love about the premise of Feminist Firestarter. It isn’t simply documenting everything that is wrong.

It is about what we do next.

About activism in a world that can feel like it is unraveling.
About turning outrage into action.
And about the people who continue to show up because they believe a more equal world is still worth fighting for.

I’m incredibly grateful to Lina for including my voice among those stories.
And I cannot wait for this book to be out in the world.

Not every unknown needs to become an emergency.

Some things don’t need to be analyzed, fixed, forced, or figured out today.

Some things just need time.

And apparently, part of trusting myself is learning that I can survive the middle without knowing how the story ends.
