Imagine if they had to stop answering the calls for help due to a lack of funding.

They are working over ten cases and this goal is a third of what is actually needed.

The T is SERT is “train” - our operators are constantly adapting, and sharpening skills to do whatever it takes in the fight of helping people out of trapped situations world wide. We are all professionals, but no one is above the other, and we constantly hold each other accountable to training so our skillsets transfer well when we are in the field.

To identify and discuss the realities and tragedies of Human Trafficking and Victims of violence in our community.

To ask what resources are available and invite organizations, especially interfaith organizations, to register with Los Angeles County and share their information with other organizations.

***These resources will be shared in future summits with the schools and healthcare organizations to help create pathways to potential freedom.***

To ask the community to support the organizations already at work in our community.

To identify the resources needed in our community and call those in attendance to consider how they may develop those resources or participate in those resources etc. Everyone can do something!

From the first responder to the last responder- death grief loss and recovery- it’s all a different point of view.

The mother who suddenly loses her child- and the first responder that rushes to help her and her family. Did we know her child? No- but do we see her? Yes. Will we always remember the screaming agony of her loss on the floor of the hospital hallway? Yes.

The family who makes the decision to take their loved one home on hospice- having no idea how they will care for them or what is going to happen. The last responders come to their homes and walk them to the edge of eternity. The fear and pain of loss- the anticipation of death- and then they are gone. But the family and friends are still standing at the edge of eternity- their loved one gone…

How do we breathe and continue? Why does the world keep going when we feel like it should all stop- as if it all has stopped…?

This conversation is different.

No one should say the stupid things they say.

No one should tell a mourning child to look on the bright side because their mother isn’t suffering anymore.

No one knows when or if you’re going to feel better…. And that’s ok. It’s not going to be in the two weeks bereavement leave. It’s not meant to be.

Jesus wept. Shortest verse in the Bible. And why did He weep! Because He had compassion and sat with the suffering Mary and Martha were experiencing at the loss of their brother. Jesus didn’t tell them everything is going to be ok- some day you will wake up and feel better or Lazarus is in a better place.

Nope.

Jesus. Wept.

KNOWING He would redirect their brother.

He sat with them in their suffering. Shouldered the human pain of grief.

If that’s what Jesus did- that’s our example.

People don’t like suffering but they will watch it on TV and the internet- somehow desensitizing them from reality….

Grief and loss influence us all differently but daily.

This conference will help you find some coping and maybe some hoping- to help you navigate this pathway.
