This quick workout is part of my new FREE series STANDING STRONG on YouTube! All standing, all levels, all with options to meet you where you're at in your fitness journey!

If getting up and down from the floor is the reason you skip workouts — or if your knees, wrists, or back would rather you didn't — this series is for you. Or maybe you want to get a quick workout in a space that doesn't allow for floor work (your office? your kitchen?) Or maybe you just need that extra push to get started. This series is for you.

No mat. No floor work. No jumping. Just smart, effective movement that builds real strength and leaves you feeling looser and more energized.

While I've always had standing workouts on my channel, I created this series specifically after conversations with many of you, particularly about others in your life – your mom, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister – who want to try strength training but just haven't been able to get started. Maybe it's because of limited mobility, or lack of equipment or space, or just the mental obstacle of doing a full workout that requires going up and down from the floor.

Full workout and series are linked in stories and on my YouTube channel as well as in the app!

So if you're already rocking your workouts, send this series to someone you know who might be looking for this!

Sorry for the weekend rant…

This came up on my social feed yesterday and I was immediately enraged. I get why the marketing team is using this ad to sell swimsuits, and I'm sure it's working. We’ve all felt this way before. And I really do appreciate that we have so many swimwear options to choose from, and that brands are (usually) making for more than one body type.

And....this type of messaging is still unnecessary.

Insinuating you need to "hide" your belly while walking to the beach. Or that you can't enjoy the walk to the beach unless you're wearing something that covers it. I’m sorry… what?!

I don't know this brand (and hid the name purposefully) because this isn't about one specific company or marketing campaign---this is about using body shame or guilt to sell products to women. And it happens everywhere.

Just when I think we are making some progress after years of telling women what they should and shouldn't wear or feel or shouldn't feel because of their bodies, something like this pops up.

And yes, I get it--- many of us do still feel uncomfortable or self aware, and certain swimsuits or clothing items can help us feel better and more confident— that's great! I'm so happy we have such variety in styles and sizes. AND, you can promote confidence and comfort without shame.

So consider this your reminder that you can wear what you want and what makes you feel comfortable and confident. And I reminder that companies can do better with their marketing.

Happy Saturday, team!

Seriously, don’t go cheap for your bo***es or feet, or for yourself! You are worth the investment ❤️

And you are stronger than you think— get those heavier weights!

What did I miss (fitness or otherwise)?

Apparently they look like some sort of explosive item.....??

Both my kids’ bags got flagged and searched by security on our trip back to CA and it was all due to those squishy Needoh things the kids are all obsessed with!

The TSA agent was super friendly and said parents should just be aware and take them out of the carry ons when going through security screenings...

Here I am worrying about my Ziploc of creatine powder and the toys were the problem the whole time...who knew???

While many of you tell me when one of my pep talks resonates with you, Im usually saying these words just as much for myself, as I am for you.

I’ve been so lucky with being able to keep moving over the years, but this last year was more challenging in dealing with some pain and injuries, some changes in my body that could be due to age, hormones, stress, perimenopause, anxiety, fatigue that could just be this season of my life—the list goes on. I sometimes find myself feeling disconnected from my body, or that my body is against me, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Throughout it all, and throughout different seasons of my life, my body continues to show up for me, so I’m going to continue to show up for my body.

Your body is FOR YOU. Even when you don’t always feel it or see it, I promise you your body is taking care of you. So many of things we get frustrated by: pain, inflammation, weight gain, physical challenges—are actually our body’s way of protecting us, healing us. That’s not to say we can’t do all the things in our power to protect and heal or maintain, but it’s an important reframe for those days when it’s hard to love our bodies.

We talk about this a lot over in the BodyFit Athletic Club—you don’t have to love your body, but we do need to respect and appreciate our body and all it can do. Believe me, I know it’s not easy, but something we can work on day to day.

Why are you thankful for your body today?? Let me know below ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Seriously, do it! I know it’s not easy, but body gratitude goes a long way in your fitness journey ❤️

And so much more ❤️

I’ve been thinking a lot about this summer as I am currently spending a week with my Michigan family, and I just had two weeks of family travel in June. Lots of delicious food and drinks, and no formal workouts but lots of activity. In years past I would’ve felt guilty for eating differently, or worried I would lose all my fitness progress.

But I’m enjoying to all with no guilt, and really looking forward to getting back to my regular workouts. NOT because I needed to burn off the calories from vacation, or make up for the workouts I missed, but because I really miss my weights, and love how I feel when I move.

So many of us have had years of chasing a number on the scale, or have centered our workouts around burning calories versus building strength, which often results in feeling like we HAVE to workout, instead of remembering we GET to move.

I know it’s not easy, but when you can shift your mindset to embracing strength, showing up because of how you feel and not how you want to (or think you should) look— everything changes.

✨ You enjoy your workouts instead of dreading them

✨ You want to show up, and are able to create consistency

✨ It gets easier (not always the workouts 😂, but the mental hurdles we encounter)

✨ Your health improves—-your body releases the emotional stress and anxiety around exercise and responds better to your workouts in every way.

✨ You miss your workouts when you take time off (but of course, take that time off when you need it or want it!)

Again, I realize it’s not easy to make this shift, but when you do— it’s magic ✨

💪 You don’t HAVE to, you GET to
💪 Stop chasing skinny, start embracing strong
💪 Focus on showing up, the rest will take care of itself
💪 Be where you are today

Share this for others who might need this reminder today!

❤️❤️❤️
