Personal trainers need rehab too!

Knowing how to train doesn’t make you immune to pain. Hours spent demonstrating exercises, coaching clients, and keeping up with your own workouts can make it challenging to give your body the attention it needs.

For this trainer, we’re addressing left hip and upper back pain by looking at more than just where it hurts. We assess how the hips, trunk, and spine move together, where movement feels limited, and how symptoms respond to different positions and loads.

The goal: build confidence in movement and the capacity to keep doing what she loves.

A pelvic hike or flexed hip may make side bending away from that side more difficult because the muscles and connective tissues on that side may already be in a shortened or compressed position. Moving away from that side can require those tissues to lengthen while the trunk, pelvis, and hip coordinate through a larger range of motion.

The Achilles tendon is the strongest tendon in the human body. It connects your calf muscles (gastrocnemius + soleus) to the heel bone (calcaneus). It lets you push off the ground when you walk, run, jump, and climb stairs. Every time you rise onto your toes, your Achilles is doing the heavy lifting. Although strong and resilient, it’s one of the most commonly injured tendons when training volume spikes too fast.

Endometriosis isn’t just a pelvic issue. The body works as an interconnected system.

Persistent pain and inflammation can influence the nervous system, pelvic floor, hips, spine, breathing, and movement patterns. When one system stays on high alert, others often adapt by tightening, guarding, or moving differently.

Physical therapy doesn’t treat endometriosis itself. It helps address the musculoskeletal and movement changes that develop around it. Improving one part of the system can influence the whole.

A motorcycle crash powerful enough to launch the rider 30 yards is a high-energy event. Even when the rider survives, the body often absorbs forces that lead to:
• Shoulder injuries and chronic pain
• Neck pain and soft-tissue damage
• Persistent headaches
• Knee trauma

These injuries don’t always resolve on their own. Proper rehabilitation remains critical even months or years later. Delayed or incomplete rehab can allow pain, instability, and limited mobility to become long-term problems.

Recovery is a process, not a single moment.
