🖤 Kali — Goddess of Transformation & Liberation 🖤
Kali is one of the most powerful and paradoxical figures in Hindu spirituality. Her name is connected to kāla—time, and therefore to the inevitable cycle of creation, destruction, and transformation.
She is not simply a goddess of death. Kali destroys what keeps us from becoming free—ego, illusion, attachment, ignorance, and identities that no longer serve us.
Her sword cuts through ignorance.
Her necklace of severed heads symbolizes the dissolution of ego and the impermanence of existence.
Her fierce appearance represents the uncompromising power of truth.
And then there is Kali standing upon Shiva.
Shiva represents pure consciousness—stillness, awareness, the unchanging ground of being. Kali represents Shakti, the dynamic feminine force of existence: movement, creation, destruction, and transformation.
Together they embody a profound paradox: consciousness and energy, stillness and movement, destruction and creation.
And despite her terrifying appearance, Kali is Kali Ma—Mother Kali. Her fierceness is not cruelty; it is fierce compassion. She destroys what must die so that something more authentic can be born.
✨ Kali reminds us that liberation sometimes requires letting go of everything we thought we were.
I just finished this painting, and I absolutely love how she came through. 🖤✨
