Are your kids climbing up the walls yet? Maybe some of these ideas will help!

Usually your kids have a lot of choice and control over what to do on play dates with their friends - but how does that translate when we can't play tag or hide and seek in person? How can we move our real world play dates to video and find creative ways to stay in touch with friends and relatives a

Has your child been diagnosed with ADHD or anxiety? Thanks to and for bringing brain mapping and neurofeedback to the kids in Los Angeles who can benefit greatly from these modalities who either don’t do well with pharmaceuticals or perhaps have parents who would like to try something with less side effects first. It also works well for OCD, test preparation, PTSD and post-concussion syndrome. Luckily in our area we have .giancarlolicata in Pasadena and in Culver City. Many applications for adults too.

One common question we are asked is how is my kid going to take herbs?
🤷🏻‍♀️
With the right coaching any child can take herbs but in our experience children who start taking herbs as babies tend to accept the flavors and even like the herbs. We stock powders that are customizable as well as a pediatric line of glycerin-based tinctures that have a sweet taste. Some kids like to be incentivized by following up their herbs with a vitamin gummy or a chocolate chip. Straws or syringes can make it easier and fun to administer the herbs. Mixing the herbs with applesauce can work too. Common conditions we prescribe herbs for include: Upper respiratory tract infections, ear infections, eczema, tummy aches, constipation, sleep disturbances and anxiety. Check out our stories today or our highlights.

A sobering new paper published in JAMA Pediatrics has found that 1 in 5 adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age were found to be prediabetic. This is very serious because these early years will lay down the foundation for their future as adults and what kinds of disease processes they will be susceptible to. We must be more mindful of the types of foods we repeatedly expose our children to and what kind of palates we want them to have. Although it starts in the womb, it is never too late to make better choices for them and swap out the types of snacks you have available in the cupboard. Be aware of the amounts of white flour and white sugar products you have in your pantry. If you bake, cut out 50% of the sugar. Eliminate sodas and juices. Forego the white bread and try a loaf of paleo bread. Get your kids outside to burn off some energy!

Do you allow your kids to play with games online where they can interact with other people? This recently caught our attention and it happened to a parent's child despite max privacy settings.

As we near Halloween and consider what kinds of candy to hand out to trick or treaters or bring to work, let’s think about what went into that chocolate. A new Washington Post article discusses the rampant child labor that companies like Hersheys, Ferrero and Mars use but bear in mind the chocolate that these companies use are also known to contain lead and cadmium! There are a lot more organic and natural companies like Yum Earth which make great products but much of it has brown rice syrup and we are waiting to hear back from them about arsenic content. 🤷‍♀️ Do you have any trick or treat recommendations that we can feel good about that kids (of all ages) will actually enjoy?

Nearly 20 years ago, the cocoa industry’s biggest companies pledged to eradicate the “worst forms” of child labor in their supply chains. Why haven’t they kept their promises?

This is such a game changer. Where can we find a prenatal bootcamp for dads around the LA area? 🤷‍♀️ Maybe just as important is one for grandparents or older family caretakers. Raising babies isn't the same as it was 20 or 40 something years ago so if you are pregnant and a parent might be helping you after your baby is born, consider finding a grandparent prep class. Understanding generational differences in how to manage a new baby will help keep relationships with your older loved ones much smoother. Trust us… you will need them for date nights in the future!
