Recently diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, an 18-year-old girl traveled 10 hours overnight by bus to be evaluated by our team in Ghana. 🇬đź‡
At her age, she’s old enough to understand how her future could be cut short without access to care.
When she learned that her heart could be mended, she broke down in tears of relief. Better yet, the surgery could be performed by the local team. 🏥
And that’s our goal. Not to perform surgeries our Ghanaian colleagues can already do safely, but to work alongside them, tackle more complex cases together, and provide hands-on training and support. 🩺🤝
Our goal is to help expand the range of complex cardiac care available to children in Ghana, working alongside the teams who care for them every day. 💜🦋
