Congratulations to Rachel’s (Rachel Weintraub) daughter, Mara (mara) on interviewing Senator John Fetterman at GWU as part of a student-led Gen-Z advocacy organization. Twenty years old, studying political communication, already grinding! That takes more than courage. That takes clarity. That takes independence.

This is what change looks like. Young people showing up, asking hard questions, and building something real around the issues that matter. No waiting for permission or for someone else to do it.

Rachel, look at what you made. Mara, keep going.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

I've sat with a lot of families on the worst day of their lives. What I've learned is that almost none of them were surprised. They saw it coming. They just didn't know what to do with what they were seeing, or they were afraid that saying it out loud would make it real.

If that's you today, say it out loud anyway. To your doctor, to a friend, to somebody. The conversation you're dreading is not the dangerous one. The silence is.

And if you lost someone, I'm not going to tell you today gets easier. But I will tell you their name still deserves to be said out loud. Say it in the comments if you want to.

Just back from Baltimore, where I had the honor of speaking at the Annual FADAP Conference this week.

I presented "Family Roles and Family Denial," talking with flight attendants and their families about how denial shows up in the people we love most, and how families can start breaking that cycle.

Grateful to FADAP for the work they do supporting flight attendants in recovery. This community shows up for each other in a way that's rare, and it's a privilege to be trusted with a piece of that conversation.

Warm hearts, dear friends and a hot night at Cannes Lions 🦁

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that success means very little if you don’t have people you love to share it with. Grateful for friendship, laughter, and the chance to spend time with people who make life better.

Congratulations to Oprah on receiving the LionHeart Award. The recognition is well deserved, not just for what she’s accomplished, but for the countless lives she’s touched through compassion, curiosity, and a deep belief in human possibility.

One of the hardest things families face is knowing when to speak up.

Many people stay silent because they don't want to embarrass someone, create conflict, or make things worse. But when someone you love is struggling, silence rarely helps.

If there's love, concern, and genuine care behind your words, bring it up.

Talk about what you've seen. Talk about what you've heard. Talk about what you know.

The conversations we avoid often become the ones we wish we'd had sooner.
