What many people call a “lazy eye” isn’t always a true lazy eye.

A true lazy eye (amblyopia) is a condition that typically develops during childhood when one eye doesn’t develop normal vision. It’s different from an eye that appears misaligned or an eyelid that droops.

During an evaluation, I look closely at your eyelids, eye position, facial symmetry, and medical history to help determine what’s contributing to your concerns. In some cases, what patients notice may be related to the eyelid, brow position, or another anatomical factor rather than amblyopia.

The first step is always an accurate diagnosis because the right treatment starts with understanding the cause.
