What does it mean when your body keeps saying no? In this Summer Shorts episode, Mechelle sits with four questions she wishes she could ask Dr. Gabor Maté — one of the most important voices in trauma and mind-body medicine alive today. From the trauma that lives in people who “don’t feel anything,” to the childhood wound of choosing attachment over authenticity, to what it takes to look at yourself honestly — this episode draws on Maté’s landmark work in When the Body Says No and The Myth of Normal to offer some of the most important concepts in healing. Thoughtful, personal, and genuinely life-changing.

Simple but helpful.

It’s not about pushing the thoughts and emotions that cause us to feel calm away or down, it’s about creating a larger capacity to understand them and meet them with compassion.

Sometimes we just need to get through the moment but the moment is inviting us to learn more.

Use these tools for the moment and start your healing journey in The Wholeness Library with guides from around the world. 💗

In this Summer Shorts episode, Mechelle sits with four questions she wishes she could ask Grandmother Tala from Moana — and teaches into the concepts each question opens up. An alien anthropologist lands on Earth and immediately gets confused about farts and sneezes. 👽

Same body. Same air. Wildly different response.

Somewhere along the line, we decided.

And most of the beliefs we live by — about our bodies, our worth, our age, our roles — got decided by someone, somewhere, for reasons that had nothing to do with us. We just inherited the water.

The good news: once you can see the water, you get to choose whether to keep swimming in it.

Spoiler Alert: story lines are discussed so if you haven’t seen it, watch first.

He’s relentlessly optimistic, brings biscuits to his boss every morning, and somehow makes everyone around him better — but underneath all that warmth, Ted Lasso is a man still carrying a wound from his childhood. In this Summer Shorts episode, Mechelle asks four questions she wishes she could ask Ted — about childhood trauma, panic attacks, the difference between empathy and self-erasure, and what it finally takes to let someone take care of you. Part teaching, part reflection, all heart. You don’t have to have watched the show to feel this one.
