Service Until the Last Moment. The gates of Kabul were chaos. Dust, fear, and the sounds of desperate crowds filled the air. Amid it all, Sergeant Nicole L. Gee moved with purpose. She had joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 2017 and dedicated herself to service, becoming a ground electronics transmission systems technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 24.

During the final days of the Afghanistan War, she volunteered for a Female Engagement Team, guiding women and children through evacuation checkpoints at Hamid Karzai International Airport. Every day was long, every moment carried weight, and every decision had consequences. Fellow Marines remembered her calm professionalism, quiet determination, and boundless compassion. A photograph days before the attack captured her holding an Afghan infant, her smile soft, her words simple: “I love my job.”

On August 26, 2021, Sergeant Gee was killed in the su***de attack at Abbey Gate, one of 13 Americans lost that day. She did not seek recognition. She simply served, carrying the lives of others on her shoulders, even in the face of mortal danger. Her courage, her empathy, and her unwavering commitment remain a symbol of the Marines she represented and the countless innocents she helped.

🌺 We remember Sergeant Nicole L. Gee — hero, protector, and guardian. Her service continues to inspire all who follow.
