Inspiring the next generation of medical imaging professionals!

This weekend, RadNet and WIN-NextGen kicked off their collaboration with a special event at our Advanced Radiology Timonium Crossings Imaging Center in Maryland.

Students ages 14 to 24 from Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia joined us with their families for a behind-the-scenes look at medical imaging. Through interactive demonstrations, center tours and conversations with our radiologic technologists, students explored the technology, people and career opportunities that make this field so rewarding.

We’re proud to collaborate with WIN-NextGen to introduce young people to the possibilities of a career in medical imaging and help inspire the future healthcare workforce.

A special thank you to WIN-NextGen, our Early Careers team and the dedicated technologists who helped bring this experience to life!

Today is National Mammography Day, a reminder of the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer. 💗 Mammograms play an important role in detecting breast cancer early, when treatment may be more effective.

To mark the occasion, our Victor Valley Women’s Center and Antelope Valley teams shared a little extra love with patients receiving their mammograms by gifting them roses🌹 We’re proud to support our patients and encourage women to prioritize their breast health.

10/16/2026

In honor of National Mammography Day, Kim Bathurst, Vice President of Women's Imaging and Screening Services for RadNet East Coast, reminds women to stay up to date with annual screening mammography and breast awareness.

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. It is crucial to detect the disease early, when treatment options are most optimal.

The Enhanced Breast Cancer Detection (EBCD) program uses artificial intelligence technology powered by DeepHealth to help radiologists detect even subtle lesions.

Early detection starts with awareness. This National Mammography Day, let's continue encouraging conversations about breast health and the importance of regular screening.

RadNet was proud to join the 20th Annual Paint El Paseo Pink walk in Palm Desert this past Saturday! 🎀

Hosted by Desert Cancer Foundation, this annual event brings the community together to honor breast cancer survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and support those currently navigating their cancer journey.

Proceeds benefit Desert Cancer Foundation’s Patient Assistance Programs, helping local residents access cancer screenings, diagnostic services, and treatment when financial barriers stand in the way.

Thank you to everyone who came together to raise awareness and support access to cancer care.

Wide-Bore MRI vs Open MRI: What’s the difference?

If you experience claustrophobia or feel nervous about having an MRI, you may have heard of Wide-bore and Open MRI as alternatives to a traditional MRI scanner. While both can offer a more comfortable experience for some patients, there are important differences between the two.

🔹 Wide- Bore MRI
A wide bore MRI has a larger opening and a wider table than a traditional MRI scanner, giving patients more space during their exam. The shorter, wider design can help reduce feelings of confinement while still using a powerful magnetic field to produce highly detailed images.
Wide bore MRI may also be able to accommodate a wider range of body types and can be a good option for patients who want additional space but require the high-quality imaging capabilities of a traditional MRI system.

🔹 Open MRI
Unlike a traditional tube-shaped MRI, an open MRI is designed with more open space around the patient. This can make the experience feel less enclosed and may be helpful for patients with significant claustrophobia, certain mobility needs or those who have difficulty comfortably fitting inside a traditional scanner.
Open MRI systems can vary in magnetic field strength and imaging capabilities. Because of this, an open MRI may not be appropriate for every type of exam.

🔹Which one is right for you?
It depends on the type of exam you need, your individual needs and the equipment available at your imaging center. Your healthcare provider and imaging team can help determine the most appropriate option for your exam.
