We're happy to announce the 2026-27 Advancement Grant awards totaling $812,600 to support 36 LA County school districts and charter networks. The Advancement Grant offers financial support to school districts working to provide high-quality arts education to all students. Awards are matched by school district funds to expand access to instruction in dance, media arts, music, theater, and visual arts.

This marks the 14th year of the Advancement Grant program and grant projects continue to expand -- band programs, film and dance, mural residencies, and folklorico workshops have launched! Other notable projects expand access to instruments, curricula, and performance spaces at districts across the County. Professional development and curriculum alignment strengthen the continuity of arts education from elementary through high school and access to college and career pathways.

Swipe through to hear from recipient districts on how they used the funds to purchase instruments, expose students to new art forms, and build connections between students and their communities.

The Advancement Grant Program is made possible with funding from Chair , Supervisors , , , & , the Arts Ed Collective Funders Council, and through direct contributions from The Herb Alpert Foundation, The Deutsch Foundation, The Music Man Foundation , and Sony Pictures Entertainment .

July is Disability Pride Month, and we're proud to celebrate the organizations making arts and culture more accessible, inclusive, and representative across LA County.

Through our Organizational Grant Program (OGP) and Community Impact Arts Grant (CIAG), we're honored to support disability-led and disability-serving organizations creating space for every body to move, create, and belong.

This year's grantees include Infinite Flow , the disability-led dance company redefining what's possible through movement, and Deaf West Theatre , whose ASL-centered productions have connected Deaf and hearing audiences since 1991.

They're joined by an inspiring community of grantees including Able ARTS Work , Jazz Hands for Autism , Tierra del Sol Foundation , Muralism , and Rancho Los Amigos Foundation expanding creative opportunities and advancing access for people with disabilities throughout LA County.

We're grateful to these organizations for helping build a more accessible, inclusive, and vibrant arts community.

Calling All Artists 📢 : Civic Art Division invites artists and artist teams to apply for the LA River Headwaters - Canoga Park Civic Art Project.

This opportunity is for a site-specific artwork composed of multiple artist-designed interpretive signage and hardscape elements along a quarter-mile trail of the LA River. It is the first civic art project in the area and highlights themes outlined in the 2022 LA River Master Plan and input from 2021- 2022 Headwaters Area Project Community Engagement Plan meetings.

The Department of Arts and Culture seeks to prioritize the histories and natural environment of the river, in particular as they pertain to the First Peoples.

Deadline to apply: August 27, 2026, 5 pm PST

Ofelia Esparza and her daughter Rosanna Esparza Ahrens are multi-generational altar makers long recognized for their role in helping establish and sustain Día de los Mu***os traditions in Los Angeles.

Following a screening of our film "Ofelia and Rosanna Esparza: Made to Remember" (2026), the artists engaged in a Q&A led by Laleña Vellanoweth, textiles conservator and conservation and collection manager for the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture.

Together, they explored what conservation means for ofrendas, the oral traditions that sustain them, the significance of making materials by hand, and the ofrenda's inherent sacredness.
