Thank you to and for inviting me to join them for their annual mission trip to Quito, Ecuador. I was honored to work alongside the kindest and most talented surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, medical assistants and staff from all over the US. Together, we performed over 54 surgeries in one week! There were many long days and late nights and in the end tears of joy from everyone.

As a medical student, I was fortunate to travel to Haiti’s Plateau Central and I swore I would continue to commit myself to helping those in developing countries after I graduated. However, once residency and family life began I found it difficult to make medical mission work a priority. As time passed I not only forgot the impact it had on me but on the patients and their families. I can’t predict the future but I can say that I will be sure to realign my priorities so I can continue to help in whatever capacity I can.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 3rd PNI Facial Nerve Symposium. We had over 40 join together to discuss all things facial nerve related. This was by far our best conference yet. We had incredible lectures, panels and debate. I’m so honored to have taken part in this study led by looking at allograft filler (taken from your own body) to be used for improving nasaolabial folds otherwise known as smile lines.

This work not only shows that research can be done in private practice settings but also that as we expand our knowledge and use of allograft materials we can continue to advance the field of facial aesthetics.

It was a pleasure and an honor to attend the meeting in Madrid. We shared some incredible ideas and learned not only how to better help our patients, but also that there are incredible surgeons and therapists all over the world who aim to achieve the same mission. Thanks to and Dr. Javier Gavilan for organizing an incredible meeting. Madrid was a great host and now off to Mallorca for a few days of R&R before returning to Santa Monica!

One of the great joys of being a plastic surgeon is helping someone “look” the way they “feel.”

Our lovely patient thought she wasn’t representing her true self when she went out with her friends and family. Using deep plain facelifting techniques, we were able to sculpt her jaw and neck line and provide her with results that give her confidence when she is out on the town.

We are grateful that she chose us out of the mini surgeons in Los Angeles and ecstatic about her results!

Today is Martin Luther King day, also known as the National Day of Service. He believed that in order to help our nation we need to consider ways in which we can all serve our neighbors, friends, family and of course, strangers. Hopefully we can keep this message close to heart as there are many in our communities who need help more than ever right now.
