One such intervention is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive form of brain stimulation known for its effectiveness

to treat patients whose condition has not improved through conventional approaches. Although mostly used in clinical practice to treat major depression, there is a growing body of scientific evidence supporting the effective use of TMS as a treatment for a wide range of brain disorders. These disorders include Bipolar depression, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Anxiety disorders, and Autism spectrum disorder. The first step of the TMS process is that a patient’s digital MRI scan is used to create a 3D image of the brain. Next, the patient’s head is spatially correlated with the newly created 3D brain image using a series of reference points. An infrared camera then tracks these positions in order to represent the patient’s head relative to the TMS treatment coil, allowing the clinician to visualize in real-time where on the brain the electromagnetic pulses are delivered.
