Thanks to my amazing mentors, Stéphane and Shalee Schafeitel, and their brilliant book, Master Your Mindpower, I've been introduced to the running parachute metaphor for explaining the real benefit of the work I do with clients.
Have you ever seen a sprinter training with a running parachute? The parachute creates resistance, forcing the runner to work much harder. Once it's removed, the runner can move faster and with much greater ease.
Limiting beliefs, unresolved emotions, and old programming can act like that metaphorical parachute. They quietly create resistance in our lives, making it harder to achieve our goals, build confidence, or create the life we want.
When we release that metaphorical parachute, it can feel as though we're finally flying toward our goals instead of fighting against invisible resistance.
What "parachute" might you be carrying?
