CHA HPMC proudly participated in the LA County Region 1 Annual Decontamination Exercise held at California Hospital Medical Center last week.

Our decontamination team suited up alongside six other hospitals to strengthen regional emergency preparedness and response.

Decontamination drills are critical for testing and improving an organization’s ability to safely and effectively remove hazardous contaminants from people, equipment, and environments before a real incident occurs.

Proud of our team for representing CHA HPMC and contributing to this important effort. 💙

As we close out Women's History Month, we want to honor a woman whose vision quite literally saved our hospital — Mrs. Millicent Olmsted.

When the Great Depression hit in 1929, our hospital struggled to keep its doors open. It was the Trust established by Mrs. Millicent Olmsted that provided the financial lifeline that kept us standing. But her legacy goes far beyond a financial gift. Mrs. Olmsted dreamed of building a Presbyterian hospital in Los Angeles where patients of any creed and race would be treated — a vision of inclusive, compassionate care that still defines who we are today.

On November 11, 1937, the hospital was renamed Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital-Olmsted Memorial in her honor — a name that carried her spirit of service for decades to come.

One woman's dream. One hundred years of care. Her legacy lives on in every patient we serve. 🏥💙🧡

✨ A Full-Circle Moment 20 Years in the Making ✨

At CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, we recently had the honor of witnessing something truly extraordinary, a reunion between Dr. Ramen H. Chamit and his very first patient.

Twenty years ago, a young mother walked through our doors facing an unimaginable diagnosis: a severe case of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), a life-threatening condition with over a 95% chance of losing one or both babies without intervention. At the time, this specialized, life-saving procedure was not widely available, especially in Southern California.

But Dr. Chamit chose action over hesitation. He fought through barriers, pushed past red tape, and led a team determined to do what was right: give two babies a chance at life.

Today, those babies are Daniel and Diego, now thriving young men, standing side by side with the physician who helped save their lives before they were even born. 💙🧡

This reunion is more than a milestone. It is a testament to courage:
• A mother who trusted and believed against all odds
• A physician who refused to give up
• A care team driven by purpose and compassion

From one groundbreaking surgery to now thousands performed, this moment reminds us why we do what we do.

To the twins and their incredible family, thank you for allowing us to be part of your story.
To Dr. Chamit, thank you for your unwavering dedication and for changing lives every single day.

Here’s to 20 years of life, resilience, and hope. 💫
