It’s a rainy week here in Los Angeles and we all know this person!
The one who says, “The rain is coming… I can feel it in my joints.”
And sure enough — a few hours later, the clouds roll in.
For years we’ve joked about it. Called it “getting old.” Laughed about the achy knees and stiff shoulders that seem to predict the weather better than the forecast.
But in many ways, this is Chinese medicine in its purest form.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body isn’t separate from nature — it’s a reflection of it. The same forces that move through the sky move through us. Wind. Cold. Dampness. Pressure changes.
When the weather shifts, our bodies respond.
Especially if there’s an old injury.
Especially if dampness has settled into the joints.
What we call “arthritis” Chinese medicine has long understood as the body’s relationship to external elements. When the body is balanced and Qi flows freely, we adapt smoothly. When there’s stagnation or weakness, we feel it — sometimes before the storm even arrives.
And the beautiful thing is — we don’t have to just endure it.
Acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, and bodywork help the body regulate, move stagnation, expel dampness, and strengthen what’s weak. They help restore harmony so the weather can change… without your joints announcing it first.
Maybe that “weather-predicting grandma” isn’t just aging.
Maybe she’s deeply attuned.
And maybe your body is, too.
If the rain is coming and your joints already know… let’s get you feeling balanced again.
