Validation is not about right or wrong - it’s about understanding the why behind your reactions. This leads to self knowledge which increases confidence over time.

Validation is also the cornerstone of my group coaching program for women of color leaders who want to lead without abandoning themselves. To learn more visit my website, link in bio.

Guilt can be helpful, but if you always feel guilty when you’re out of the office, here are 5 questions to ask yourself:

1. Is your guilt about YOUR values or is it about your boss’ values or your company’s values?

> If your workplace doesn’t value rest or healthy balance, ask yourself if it’s a good fit for you.

2. Do you believe you’re indispensable and so you feel guilty when you leave?

> Very few people are indispensable. Like I can count them on my hands. If you’re one of them, learn to delegate.

3. Are you really shirking responsibility by leaving?

> If so, your guilt is helpful and you need to pay attention to it. Find a coach or therapist and do the work.

4. Is your guilt actually masking control issues?

> If you have a hard time trusting others when you’re away, it’s not good for the team and it’s not good for you. Practice delegating.

5. Do you deserve a break?

> Trick question - none of this is about deservingness. It’s about health and balance.

🌴 Which one resonated most with you?

Confidence is not a trait. It is a process.

It comes from taking small and strategic steps, and learning from whatever happens - good or bad.

What does this look like in practice?

1. Choose one small behavior that you can try TODAY:

- Ask a question in a meeting
- If you over prepare for meetings, cut your prep time by 20%
- Don’t agonize over writing a perfect email, just send it

2. No matter what happens, analyze the outcome:

- What worked?
- What didn’t work?
- What can I do less or more of next time?

3. Repeat.

Small steps, but big in strategy.

Confidence isn’t about knowing all the answers or saying things in a certain way.

It’s deeper than that.

It’s about trusting that you can solve the problem - especially when you don’t know the answer.

This kind of confidence comes from
➡️ Taking strategic risks,
🔎 Observing the outcomes, and
🔃 Adapting your approach next time.

Are you struggling with confidence because you’re too focused on the answer instead of your ability to get there?

💬 “That’s just how our family does things.”

Ever heard that when trying to set a boundary?

Cultural norms around respect, closeness, privacy, or emotional expression can clash — even within the same family.

When boundaries are tied to identity, disagreements feel more than just uncomfortable… they feel personal.

But it is possible to hold your boundary and stay rooted in curiosity and care.

🧠 In this Psychology Today article, I unpack how culture shapes boundary expectations — and how we can approach those tricky moments with more empathy (and fewer fireworks).

The grieving process of identity loss? It’s real, and it matters.

Our culture often minimizes the darker feelings that are associated with parenting, but paying attention to them is just as important for parents as it is for kids.

If you want to believe something new, you have to live it first.

Knowing ≠ Believing.

You can know something is true…and still not feel it.

An affirmation without experience is just words.

Belief comes from action, and your feelings will catch up.

Just because guilt shows up when you set a boundary, doesn’t mean the boundary is wrong.

💭 Guilt can be helpful, but it can also be misleading, especially if you’ve been taught to prioritize other people’s comfort over your own needs.

This carousel breaks down:
💬 why guilt doesn’t always mean you’ve done something wrong,
💬 how to spot misplaced guilt,
💬 and the questions to ask when you’re unsure what’s driving your decisions.

✨ The goal isn’t to never feel guilty, it’s to make intentional choices led by your values, not by your fear of disappointing others.
