Today marks (Advisor) Josh Ryan's 13 years with Mount Sinai Memorial Parks & Mortuaries — serving families at both Simi Valley and Hollywood Hills.
Thirteen years ago, Josh's life took an unexpected turn. He had already built a career directing, producing, and acting for stage, film, and television. At the time he joined Mount Sinai, he had a show on Showtime and Spike TV, and the arts had been such a meaningful part of his life.
Then his cousin Bonnie passed away.
"Her passing brought me to a place I never expected to be — a calling to serve families during some of life’s most important and difficult moments. I answered that call 13 years ago, and I’ve never looked back."
What began as a career change became a mission.
Josh notes: "It has been an incredible privilege to help families plan ahead, make thoughtful decisions, and create a gift of love and peace for the people they care about most. I’m deeply grateful for every family who has trusted me, every story I’ve been invited to hear, and every person who has allowed me to be part of such a meaningful chapter in their lives.
And while my passion for the arts has never left me — I still love directing, producing, acting, and creating — I’ve discovered that there is another kind of storytelling in this work: the stories of the lives we celebrate, the people we remember, and the legacies we leave behind.
Today, I’m simply grateful.
Grateful to be alive.
Grateful to serve.
Grateful for the journey.
And grateful that 13 years ago, I said yes to a calling I didn’t yet fully understand.
Here’s to continuing to live with purpose, serve with heart, create with passion, and never take this beautiful life for granted."
