Dear KSLA Family,
I am sadly letting you all know that I am leaving KSLA.
It has been an amazing 4.5 years with Kindred Space. When I got licensed in the spring of 2021 as a new midwife, I was slowly setting up my private business. When I heard from Allegra and Kim asking if I wanted to work at the center, I was ecstatic. I had met them years before through Nicole’s (our amazing admin/student midwife) postpartum dance class at a capoeira studio where I used to take Zumba classes lol — which alone felt like a miracle, to meet midwives and a doula when I barely started my midwifery school. When I joined them, it was shortly after they had opened the center. I remember being nervous about being accepted as a new midwife (and a Japanese one at that!). But quite the contrary — I was welcomed with such open arms that I felt comfortable working there immediately.
I have so many fun memories to share, but all I can say is that there was so much laughter! We also shared tears sometimes from hard births. I trusted them fully, and when we talk about “trust” as midwives, it means something very deep. Kim, Allegra, Haika, Nicole and Skye are my spiritual sisters, soul family, and birth comrades. I can’t say enough how grateful I am for the experience I had with them— it truly formed the midwife I am today. Kindred Space LA has grown into an amazing birth center offering so many wonderful things to the community, and I was so proud to be part of it.
I’m focusing on my private homebirth practice from now on. I hope I will still see you all someday, as I’m hoping to attend fun KSLA events. As we always say when we send off our families after the last visit, this is not a good bye. Love to all the families I have encountered and crossed paths with these past years!
