NHF is excited to welcome our new Behavioral Health Specialist serving Ventura County! A lifelong Ventura resident, Tawni brings positivity, creativity, and a deep commitment to connecting with our guests every day. From leading interactive groups like Emotional Regulation and Grounding Techniques, to hosting welcoming “Coffee and Conversations” office hours, she creates safe spaces where guests can build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and feel supported on their path forward. She also partners with the NHF social services team to develop individualized behavior plans that promote stability, empowerment, and growth. We’re proud to expand behavioral health support for our Ventura County community and continue helping guests move forward with care, dignity, and hope!

Congratulations to Sanin, one of the first guests at NHF’s Arleta Interim Housing Program, on securing Permanent Supportive Housing. His story reminds us that healing, stability, and community can open the door to lasting change.

Recuperative care is more than recovery—it is dignity, community, and support on the path home. Sanin’s journey at NHF’s Arleta site shows what can happen when determination meets opportunity. Read his inspiring story.

This week, a group of our Ventura Recuperative Care guests were able to hit the town and enjoy a movie together! Getting out and having fun together is part of their journey back to health and housing. Community connectedness is key!

At NHF, we support both our guests and their beloved companions. We've cared for 17 pets belonging to individuals experiencing homelessness, helping their caretakers access low-cost veterinary services, providing free pet food, and creating opportunities for pets to thrive alongside their owners.

At our Arleta recuperative care, pets can enjoy our on-site dog run, giving them a safe space to play, exercise, and stretch their legs while their owners work toward housing stability and improved health.

Because compassionate care means recognizing that keeping families together includes the four-legged members, too. We'd love and appreciate support or a shout out from Petco Love, PetSmart Charities and Greater Good Charities!!

Recently, our TAY interns had a fun day decorating cupcakes and building connections with recuperative care guests at our Arleta facility. These opportunities help increase community connectedness, reduce isolation, and help people transition more successfully into housing. Thank you to our funding partner L.A. Care Health Plan for the support!
