Are you silencing yourself?

I’ve internalized that my feelings are unimportant, and sometimes I have a tough time figuring out what I’m feeling. Here are three processes that I have found to be helpful.

Thought believes that it can protect me. Thought believes that there is a safe place away from here. Thought imagines that tomorrow will be better, that somewhere, with someone else, will be perfect. If only I can figure it all out, then I will finally be able to relax....

Start a revolution in all your relationships. Stop in the middle of any emotional reaction and see if the feeling, by itself, without any words on it, is actually a threat. Rest as the space in which the feeling is happening. If the feeling is not a threat, then the other person isn't either. For what we fear most is feeling pain, not other people.
