Strides in Recovery is a Los Angeles based nonprofit which brings the healing power of goal-oriented group running/walking to clients in addiction treatment programs. As a volunteer coach of a residential addicition recovery program's LA Marathon team, I have the honor and privilege of helping people experience the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritutal rewards of training for a major endurance event, while turning their lives around. Inspired by the many success stories, I started Strides in Recovery to help others in the recovery community harness the power of running for maintaining their sobriety.

Recovery rewires the brain, but movement gives it a fast pass. 🧠 🧪
UCLA research on exercise in recovery reveals that 8 weeks of regular physical activity changes striatal dopamine receptor availability—starting at 3% and spiking up to 13.89% ⬇️ ⬆️
What does that mean for you? Exercise is scientifically proven to speed up dopamine recovery. Helping to clear the path so you can actually experience natural joy, motivation, and reward in early sobriety. ✨
We witness this magic happen every week at Strides in Recovery. By showing up to LA treatment centers ready to run, walk, and connect—we help clients build a physical outlet to support their mental and emotional recovery. 💚

Meet Carol 👋🏽
Carol has been a dedicated volunteer coach at House of Hope since 2025–uplifting and encouraging the residents on a weekly basis as they make strides in their recovery ♥️

Not only is Carol a dedicated volunteer for one of our treatment teams, she volunteers at the Palos Verdes Trails 5K every year with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Notary Club ✨ You will see them on the course again this October!

It is individuals like Carol and her team at the PVNC that make our organization so special. We are deeply grateful for her time and the impact she makes in our community. 🌞

Leslie’s 10-day, 612-mile birthday adventure with her husband was a journey for the books. 🎂 🚲 🏔️

One thing about Leslie, when she does something, she does it big! 👏🏽

From Salt Lake City to Denver, they flew with all their gear to the airport, assembled their bikes after landing and climbed 3 breathtaking mountain passes. They stood atop Trail Ridge Road—the highest paved road in the US at over 12K ft. ✨⛰️

The grand finale? Celebrating in Colorado with her son, daughter-in-law, and dear friends—mountains, adventure and quality time. Congratulations to the dynamic duo on another level of epic adventure and happy birthday Leslie Gold, founder of Strides in Recovery ♥️
