My name is Zelina and I have a passion for healing and wellness. Coming from a lineage of healers, I discovered my life path after recovering from several health hardships including Lupus, addiction, a back injury and more. In 2007, I found myself stuck in a health and emotional rut. I had been recently diagnosed with Lupus and I felt as though my life and desire to keep living it, was slipping away. My kidneys were failing and my doctor told me that if I didn’t take the medication he was prescribing, I would die. I didn’t know a whole lot about healthcare then, but taking an immunosuppressant drug (a drug that suppresses the immune system) seemed counter intuitive. I started researching Lupus day and night and found that most patients who took those drugs were progressively getting worse, and with newer problems. “There must be another way,” I thought. I found alternative ways of healing and at the urge of my mother I decided to try acupuncture. From that very first treatment, I felt a major shift. My faith in recovering was renewed, I felt as though healing was possible. “Why isn’t everyone doing this?” I thought. I was progressing with each treatment, and combined with food therapy, yoga, meditation, and other forms of therapy; my health was restored. My transformation was quick; my labs were normal after just a year. Acupuncture became my answer to everything, even when I asked myself “what am I doing with my life?” It felt so natural to pursue the healing arts, and my life has changed for the better. Getting healthy was a long and challenging process, but it has been absolutely worth it! As a practitioner, I believe that people have the capacity to heal themselves. Our bodies are amazing works of art that sparkle with energy and functionality and whose self-healing mechanisms can be initiated using the right tools. I also believe in empowering others to become active participants in their recovery. I work by discovering and treating the root cause(s) of disease, which in many cases is/are due to a mind-body-spirit disconnect. Trauma stuck in the body often manifests as pain, discomfort or other health conditions. I often work with folks recovering from trauma, autoimmune conditions, ancestral trauma, mood imbalances and more. I like to combine different forms of therapy such as acupuncture, guided meditation, food therapy, plant medicine and herbs, cupping, moxibustion, movement therapy and anything else I feel someone needs. It is important to understand that healthy is a lifestyle. You matter and how you move through life matters. I am not your typical doctor, I like to listen and I devote my time to you and your healing journey. I have gifts to share and my work is unlike anyone else’s. My goal is to help you look and feel great, to remind you of your POWER and to make you feel seen and heard. I graduated from Southern California University of Health Sciences with my Master’s of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and completed my Doctorate program at Emperor’s College in March 2018. I completed a Traditional Mexican Medicine course in Oaxaca, Mexico as hosted by the University of New Mexico, a study program at the Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, CA, and countless independent studies in holistic health and spiritual well-being. I am licensed by the California Acupuncture Board.

✨ Dr. Z’s 4 Keys to Empowerment

As a woman who has not only survived, but thrived through trauma and autoimmune, I’ve learned a few things about empowerment.

Women with trauma and autoimmune have often played small, holding back their gifts.

No more. 🌹

Here are my four keys to empowerment:

✨ 1. No half stepping. Go all in on yourself.

Make your decision.
Stick with it.
Go all in.

This applies to everything, but especially your healing journey.

✨ 2. Ask for what you want.

Stop being afraid.

Ask for what you want because if you want it, it’s because you deserve it.
And you know it.

✨ 3. Be bold.

Stop playing it so safe all the time.

There’s a time to create safety in the body.

And there’s a time to be bold.

With your career.
With how you dress.
With how you show up.
With your dreams.

Live a little.

✨ 4. Practice receiving.

This is where so many women get stuck.

We’re so used to giving that we forget how to receive.

Receive the compliment.

Receive the opportunity.

Receive the help.

Receive unapologetically.

Don’t overthink it.

Just do it.

The era of overgiving, people pleasing, and self-abandonment is over.

The world needs you healthy.

The world needs you confident.

The world needs you fully in your power so you can share your gifts.

✨ If you’re ready to stop surviving and start thriving, I’d love to help you get there. Send me a DM.

Why do women crave chocolate during that time of the month? 🍫🌹

It’s probably not because your body wants a candy bar.

When we bleed every month, we naturally lose iron.

Our blood is rich in iron, so our body often craves foods that help replenish what we’ve lost.

One of the richest plant sources of iron?

✨ Raw cacao.

This is why I start most mornings with a warm Cacao Latte instead of coffee.

Not only is it delicious, but cacao is also rich in antioxidants and contains theobromine, a natural compound that supports mood, focus, hormones and gentle energy without the coffee crash.

Food really can be medicine.

Here’s my simple recipe:

If you make it, let me know what you think!

Have you noticed yourself craving chocolate during your moon time?

I’d love to hear if you’ve experienced this too.

Research:
Raw cacao is rich in flavonoids and polyphenols that support cardiovascular health and healthy inflammatory balance. Women also have increased iron needs during their reproductive years, making iron-rich foods an important part of overall wellness.

This July Acuvida celebrates 10 years of service. 🥳

I’ve been reflecting on what an incredible privilege it’s been to witness so much transformation over the past decade.

I’ve seen women go from suffering with lupus to symptom-free and no longer needing medication.

I’ve seen women move from deep emotional trauma and suicidal thoughts to finding joy, peace, and hope again.

I’ve seen women whose confidence had been shattered by chronic skin conditions finally feel beautiful again in their own skin.

And I’ve witnessed so much more.

It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life.

To celebrate this milestone, instead of throwing a big party, I wanted to make my work more accessible.

So I’ve been offering 50% off all services.

That includes in-person treatments, virtual appointments, and yes… even my private mentorship, where the deepest transformation happens.

This is the final week.

The promotion ends Friday, July 31.

Must mention promo to receive discount.

If you’ve been thinking about working with me, now is the perfect time.

Simply send me a DM and we’ll figure out the next step together. 💖

No half stepping.
Go all in on yourself.

Life is all about making decisions.
What I often see (and also experience myself) is being indecisive and unsure.

I call this being a half stepper.

You’re halfway in.
And halfway out.

This creates a lot of confusion and wasted energy.

One practice that helps:

✨ Weigh out both scenarios.
✨ Make your decision.
✨ Stick with it.
✨ Go all in.

When you go all in, you’re committed.

You’re clear on your decision.
You’re clear on the path forward.

That creates commitment.
That creates momentum.
And that sets you up for success.

No wasted energy.
Just lessons, growth, and clarity.

Going all in is especially important when it comes to your health.

Sometimes we decide we want to improve our health...

But we’re not really sure.
We’re coming from an uncertain place.

We don’t have a plan.
We don’t have support.

And that often sets us up for failure.

Instead...

✨ Make your decision.
✨ Have a plan.
✨ Have support.
✨ Go all in.
✨ And stick with it.

No matter what.

Your future self will thank you for it. 🌹

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start healing with a clear, personalized plan, send me a DM.
I’d love to support you.

💞 Let’s talk about oxytocin:
The Love Hormone

Oxytocin is medicine.

Oxytocin is secreted through:
• touch
• connection
• safety
• trust

It makes you feel:
• calm
• bonded
• supported
• regulated

It’s released when:
• you hug, kiss or make love
• you laugh
• you feel emotionally safe
• you connect authentically

And it helps:
• reduce inflammation
• regulate stress hormones
• support immune balance

Yes it’s true.
This is measurable biology.

And Remember:
You’re Human.
Not a machine.

So if healing feels hard right now, ask yourself:
Where can I invite more softness, sensuality and connection into my life?

Who’s ready to combine healing with pleasure?

Your Mindset and Your Thoughts Affect Your Health. Here’s How

Your mindset and thoughts directly affect your immune system, your hormones, your digestion — your entire body.

Here are 3 ways:
1. Stressful thoughts = stress chemistry.
Every time you think “I’ll never get better,” your body releases cortisol, tightens your muscles, slows your digestion, and increases inflammation…causing more pain and discomfort

2. Beliefs become biology.
If you think your body is broken, your body believes it and your nervous system stays on high alert, which makes it almost impossible to heal.

3. Safety = healing.
When you shift your internal dialogue from fear to safety and trust, your body feels safe enough to heal and repair.

Your Mindset is your fuel.

The women I work with don’t just change their diets.
They change the way they see themselves.

And that changes everything.

This is exactly the work that we do in my mentorship. I currently have 3 spots open.

As someone who healed from Lupus naturally over 13 years ago, I know food is one of the most powerful forms of medicine.

I often get asked for recipes and so today I wanted to share the one that so many of my patients have asked me for over the years.

Listen, I know life is hard.

You don’t get a reward for everything you’ve been through.

But you can reward yourself by choosing better for yourself.

Life gets better on the other side.

I’m rooting for you,

Autoimmune: The Perfect Storm

Autoimmune disease doesn’t just appear one day.
It quietly brews beneath the surface.

It starts with:
⚡ Unresolved trauma
⚡ Gut imbalance
⚡ Toxin overload
⚡ Nervous system dysregulation
⚡ Chronic stress and burnout

It’s not your fault.
It’s the result of a world that keeps you overstimulated, undernourished, and disconnected from your own body.

But here’s the truth:
You can shift the entire trajectory of your health by making new choices—one moment at a time.

💫 The choice to nourish your body with foods that love you back.
💫 The choice to rest without guilt.
💫 The choice to seek balance that’s sustainable, easy.

When I started addressing the root causes—healing trauma, regulating my nervous system, detoxifying my body—my symptoms didn’t just fade, my identity transformed.

The fastest way to get there?
Don’t do it alone.

I have 4 mentorship spots open for women ready to step into their healed, embodied selves.

📩 DM me “AUTOIMMUNE” and let’s start your transformation.
